I read recently that Lee Rogers (Former WIND Jock) was let go from a west coast station where he did mornings for several years. I recall in the late 60's
Chuck Benson/Kurt Russel did 6-10 AM, Lee Rogers 10-2 PM and Dale Ulmer 2-6 PM. I believe a sports show was on in the evening.

The sports show that was on in the evening was hosted by a guy named "Berg". I can't remember his first name, but he later went to WGN. Was it Bill?

The name Bill Berg sounds familiar from WGN. IIRC, he did afternoons there in the '70s.

Yes, and before WGN he hosted an evening sports show on WIND in the late 60s.
...Bill Berg also surfaced for a while at the Mutual-era WCFL, then resurfaced at WIND around '83 or so. I remember that on one of his later WIND shows Berg called the newly-religious 'CFL "Amen 1000" ;-) ...

When did Contact (828-9110) show begin? Was Dave Baum the original host? Clark Weber than hosted it right?

I think Dave Baum was the only host. As some of you may know, "Contact" was the standard Group W title for topical talk shows on their radio and TV stations--in Philadelphia on KYW-TV the host was a guy named Tom Snyder.

Dave Baum left WIND for awhile & went to KMOX in St Louis. I think it was around that time that Clark Weber hosted evenings. Anyway after about a year or two Baum came back to WIND.

I believe Clark did mornings at WIND and Baum came back to do the Contact show. Didn't Clark do mornings twice at WIND?

Weber did do mornings at WIND, but there was a period of time where he was on at night.
I think it was sometime in the late 70s.

...for a while, they brought in Howard Miller to do Contact. Ed Schwartz later told the Sun-Times that he was the only person at the station who got along with Miller during that period; Miller was even picking arguments with Connie Szerszen during the last hour of her show!...

i like WLS-fm as it is .that is if what they do online is the same as their over the air brodcasts are.

Add more local talent to replace Shannon.

x2!

Also, as a specialty show, I'd love to see AT40, The Seventies show up sometime over the weekend on WLS-FM. That would be a perfect fit. Better than the same ol' TOC programming.

As long as the Citadel/Cumulus situation is in limbo, it's unlikely that anything will change for the better.

I'd love to bend Scott Shannon's ear for an hour about succeeding in Chicago.
(Hint: lIsten to Dick)

Whoever might be in contact with Scott should please contact me in PM in total confidence.
We could easily assemble a few others who regularly post here to help "tune" WLS back into being WLS .

I don't want Scott to fail, and I'm pretty sure no one else does, either, ...just... can we somehow help WLS
remember what it really sounds like?

Silver Dollar Survey everyday same week but different year? Gid rid of 94.7 and call it The Big 95 WLS? Hire Fred Winston and Scotty Brink? Brink back the 60's Jingles? Gid Rid of True Oldies and call it Musicradio? Just a few ideas..... Any other thoughts?

OK, I've changed my mind although I do think a dance format on a big signal would work and I like Chris Shebel. What I am reading more and more leads me to be more inclined to "recreate" the BIG 89 on FM!

I'm with you all the way. Add Larry Lujack on weekends. He would love to do a weekend show and he said a year or so ago it's not about the money.
