Movement to have Dick Biondi emcee the Paul Macartney concert in Chicago. Biondo was the first DJ to inroduc the Fab Four..

Biondi was also the first DJ to play a Beatles record in the US.
He also introduced them at Hollywood Bowl.

Actually it was Carroll James at WWDC Washington in December 1963 (insert Four Seasons comment here). Biondi introducing the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl did happen since he was at KRLA at the time.

Nope not true. James was the first to play "I Want To Hold Your Hand" in Dec 63, but Biondi played "Please Please Me" in Feb 1963 on WLS a year before the British invasion took place.
If you check copies of the WLS survey from early March of 1963 you'll see that "Please Please Me" was on the WLS charts for several weeks.
It never got above #34. Biondi played all the new records below #30 on the WLS chart on his evening show.
In July of 63 Biondi took "Please Please Me" with him to KRLA (it was on Chicago's Vee Jay records). He played it on KRLA and was swamped with calls from listeners to get that crap off the air and play the Beach Boys.
Obviously America wasn't yet ready for the Beatles in early 1963 when Biondi played them.

You're right. http://www.users.qwest.net/~oldiesloon/wls030863.htm

Adding to this the label was Vee-Jay, a Gary, Indiana based record label. They had the original distribution rights for Beatles recordings. So getting the record to WLS was just a short drive.

As you can see from that listing, The Beatles wasn't spelled correctly. I wonder if that was Vee Jay's or WLS' fault?

...Vee-Jay's. That's how they misspelled the band's name on the record label. http://www.pophistorydig.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/1963-vj-please-230.jpg shows it...

Personally, I prefer those hour-long Vitamin C commercials from Purity Products. They are able to cure cancer and just about everything just with vitamin C! That's why radio is awesome today! I mean, how else would we ever find out about these miraculous products? =)

Anyway doesn't WLS AM already have the colon blow ads? I thought I heard them once or twice.

Yeah but do you want more? Think of it--24 hour colon blow!
Hey maybe that's the format they're shooting for.

I don't EVEN want to think of what the call letters W-L-S would stand for after THAT kind of switch :p ...........

Isn't KFWB in LA almost all colon blow now?

The reports are that we are weeks away from new ownership. Will we see many changes? Will Biondi be free to do the Friday All Request Show? I hope so! Any thoughts or comments?

That's interesting because last week it was mentioned that there may be problems with the deal because of the current market conditions.
