I listened to the 5PM hour on WLS until it turned to Sports. Aren't there enough places to get sports in Chicago? I now listen to Garry at 5 on WGN. Too much sports programming, not only in Chicago, but everywhere. Overkill.

I agree--2 sports stations are enough, if you include ESPN 1000 and their ratings are dropping everyday.

But how's their billing, compared to WLS and The Score? It's still all about the Benjaminz.

I don't think they're billing better than the Score in the Chicago market.

WMVP bills 50% more than WLS, and WSCR bills more than double 'LS' billing.

With the Memorial Day weekend coming up, I always enjoyed the ReWind on WLS AM. Also, I enjoyed listening to the Top 500 Hits!

From WGVU General Manager
"With sadness we let you know that WGVU Real Oldies and West Michigan has lost a friend and colleague. WGVU Real Oldies Program Manager Bill Bailey passed away unexpectedly today. “Bill has been an integral part of building WGVU Real Oldies. We will miss his smile, his style, and the contribution he has made to our station and our lives. His passion for music, golf, and the community are an inspiration. Please keep Bill’s family in your thoughts,” Michael Walenta, WGVU General Manager.

From everything I've ever heard Bill Bailey was a good guy.
Regarding his time at WLS he was very respectful of the history of the station. I remember when he participated on the WLS Memorial Day Reunion several years ago he pointed out what a kick it was for him,
as someone who grew up in Chicago, to be on the air in 1972 from the same studio during the same shift that Dick Biondi originally held at the station.

Larry Lujack

Since this board was inactive , we loss Larry Lujack! What a great radio personality and we were so lucky to be entertained by him here in Chicago.

890 not a clear channel anymore...

since the Cubans have set up shop on it.
Usually about a 50/50 mix here in Atlanta.

AHhh isn't it about time to start a new thread?? Since WLS AM/FM is NOT to be sold anytime soon?? (this thread was started in 2010!! I think 4 years of the same subject is a bit too much

There are numerous Class D 890s in the US at night as well...one is in Texas south of the DFW area....last I saw, they were asking for a 20KW day CP but the night power was pi** poor...Also a Class B 890 in CO iirc that blast west into Calif at night.

I believe you're thinking of KDXU St George, Utah.
