WLS AUDIO PROCESSING

Does anyone know the history of WLS AM and their audio processing?
What were they using in the 70's and then in the 80's (when it was obvious there was a significant upgrade).
My guess they're OPtimod-ing like everyone now but I'm curious about the past...any engineer types know?

If you're going back to the early-mid 70s, I recall it was "secret" custom multi-band processing.

The AM Optimod wasn't released until 1978.

And the first one sounded horrible! I'll bet they used the standard Audimax/Volumax stuff, augmented in the mid 70's with a DAP...
