You forgot to mention one of the originals-- a guy named Dick Biondi.

Impressive to say the least! Thanks for sharing. I knew it had to be 1960 without you confirming it, because Ed Grennan...a holdover from the previous format...was only with the top 40 lineup for a few months. Art Roberts was his replacement.

I never caught Grennan on WLS. I started listening in 1961 after he left. But there was a somewhat similar situation in 1965 when WCFL flipped to top 40. Mike Rapchak....an adult standards/big band type of announcer of considerable regard....found himself in the role of rock jock for a few months. Pro that he was, he made it sound respectable without making it too obvious that he wasn't enjoying himself.

No offense, but do we really need Dave & Marti? Edwards & Lujack would be great in the morning. Fred Winston would be a fine addition to mid days. In any event, return Dick Biondi to 7PM and bring back his Friday Night Request Show which as Bob Sirott has stated is "appointment listening!"

My intention was to create the best WLS lineup without putting anyone out of a job. I was on the air and in programming for 8 years, so I wanted to be "nice" regarding this dream lineup. Add Tommy Edwards and get rid of Scott Shannon, Move JRL and Dick Biondi earlier where they can be heard by their fans, and I think we'd resuscitate the legendary WLS from 20th place pretty quickly...

Maybe you haven't noticed the NYC board. The #1 station is WCBS-FM and they talk about it often.

Actually, they have been #1 in 12+ once in the last 8 books... but you are right, CBS-FM is one of the most commented classic hits stations on these boards.

WCBS-FM is one of those rare breeds of Classic Hits stations that, unlike our Chicago wannabe counterpart K-Hits, does a great job with its presentation of music and personalities and is worthy of repeated discussion! (WOGL-FM in Philadelphia is a close second IMO.)
