Following thru, at 7:30 PM heard a song that sounded like industrial dance music, definitely not part of their format, I think Biondi & Shannon are no longer there, would someone check this out? This is 3rd time I have heard songs totally out of the ballpark for their format. That was 7:30 PM Saturday, Sept 10

Biondi is on every weeknight from 7--11PM. Just listened to his Friday night request show.

Taste Of Honey, Commodores-that's a tweak of their format, no doubt about it. Thanks for the confirmation. Plus Talking Heads. Why isn't this change acknowledged by anyone?

Frankly, I haven't had time to send out a confirmation to everyone on the planet. Please accept my apology.

The Commodores and Taste of Honey songs are a part of the station's regular playlist (and have been for a while now). During the request show, they will allow songs not in regular rotation to be requested and played, hence the Talking Heads selection. If you're a regular listener to the station (as I am), then you'll know nothing out of the ordinary is going on here with the format (which does now include select 80s tracks in addition to 60s and 70s).

Let's stop these rumors here and now: WLS-FM hasn't changed a darn thing. I listened to much of the Friday night request show and it sounded much as it has every Friday night for quite some time now. Yes, there are (unfortunately) more late 70s and 80s songs in the mix than there were 18 months ago - but it's still pretty heavily 60s based. And Dick still spins more than a few pre-1964 titles during that show, which is something you rarely hear anywhere else.

Saturday and Sunday nights (7-12) have featured an increasingly large proportion of titles from the late 70s and 80s - which is all about the alleged "demographics" issue. This is not representative of the overall format, but it's not a recent change either. Been that way for a couple of years now. But this is no longer unusual within the format, check out WRIT-FM "Oldies 95.7" from Milwaukee on a Saturday or Sunday evening. Same deal there.

Overall, WLS-FM still plays among the highest proportion of 1960s oldies of any major market oldies formatted station in the US.
