WLS Going Live And Local To Replace Oprah?

WLS/ABC 7 is entertaining the possibility of a new live and local show to replace Oprah Winfrey after her show concludes its run in 2011.

WLS President/GM Emily Barr calls the idea "very invigorating." The working title of the proposes program is "Morning Rush."

"Morning Rush?" I thought Limbaugh quit TV in the '90s. ;D

Of course, Oprah was "live and local" on Channel 7 many years ago, but it was called "AM Chicago" in those days. Maybe they should use that title again.

I thought Disney would pull shenanigans on WGN-TV by tripling the price for Regis & Kelly, then when WGN passes WLS-TV would then take R&K as an ABC/Disney O&O. My reasoning: all the ESPN cost increase cable carriage stunts pulled by Disney, i.e. threatening to pull WABC/7 off of Time Warner cable.

6 years later and we have Windy City Live that only replaced Graph for a few years until Live with Kelly and Michael moved to ABC 7 from WGN TV.
