WLS Lose the Sox and Bulls

WGN barely used to give the Sox the time of day when they carried the Cubs.

Such was not the case with WSCR and the Cubs, whether or not they had the rights. The Score had plenty of Cubs talk, although much of it was from die-hard Cub fan Mike Murphy. They favored the Sox for the most part, even when they were on 820 & 1160, and the Sox aired on WMAQ or WMVP, but didn't slight the Cubs at all.

Then again, at the time, WGN was owned by the company that also owned the Cubs, so they were a bit biased.

That was the case even when the Cubs were owned by the Wrigleys. Despite Jack Brickhouse calling games on both sides of town for 25 years or so on WGN radio and TV, WGN and the Cubs were joined at the hip, at least once they returned to 720 from a few years at WIND in the mid 1950s.
