anyone just happen to have a copy of the news intro used on the BIG 89 years ago..sure would like to have it.thanks

I don't...

..but HERE is a short aircheck of a traffic bed from a Seattle station back in 1991
that 'sounds' much like a WLS sounder:

http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/airchecks/KOMO91TS.mp3
(**RIGHT-CLICK ONLY - to 'Save Target As')

Note the musical rythum IN the sounder - much like: 'Douuuble-u...'L'...'S'...

..Can anyone confirm this was so?....and if it was, is there any straight bed copy of it around somewhere?

Thanks!

thanks for the post but that's not it, neither is the one on the reelradio site.still searching...

that's it, but i need the cut with no news over it.Maybe Lyle Dean, who i had dinner with this past summer can fix me up.meanwhile i'll keep looking..thanks

that's it.hope bruce has a copy with no news on top.hey i know this is a shot.not too many folks would just happen to have it unless you worked at the BIG 89.i could take this cut and throw it up in cool edit to get a track.thanks

EVERY abc affiliate has that sounder. I used it at WAZY, Lafayette, IN (and WGFA, Watseka, IL) in the early 70s.

Was it the legal ID/stager that was used on JAM's "Fresh Kiss" package?

I've heard this bed used over the years used as a stager bed for cut 1 on this package. Also, I heard it over the years used as a news opener, weather & contest bed for various stations. Although this jingle package was sung for KIIS FM/LA, some of the cuts were done originally for WLS in 1984/85.

Yes, it was the original ABC Contemporary Radio Network news sounder when ABC split into the four networks back in the late 60s. There were a couple of different versions of it, one of those was used by "Speaking of Sports" long after Cosell passed away.

There were also one or two versions that were quite different. I don't recall if ABC ever used them for anything, but ABC made them available for local affiliates for use as a local news or traffic sounder.
