WLTQ 730 AM Charleston

When did they change to a spanish format? This is now the 3rd spanish radio station in Charleston. (98.9, 1480 & 730)

I personally think that Charleston needs another Spanish station like they need another urban formatted station and Columbia the very same way.

I assume that is the final nail in the coffin for 98.9. Come on Charleston, shake things up! 98.9, 100.5, 105.5, and 100.9 all are possibilities of format flips with 100.9 needing to stay on the air most importantly.

There could be twenty Spanish stations in a market. So what? If management feels there's more profit in being number twenty-one, they'll flip.

And still, 90+% of the stations have English formats....

I notice that CC has an AP in to raise the power of WLTQ to 5kw.
Wonder what stations in other states would have to go off the air for this to happen?
Back when 730 got its current power increase WMBL in North Carolina had to go dark.
Thoughts?
And now maybe one of the fms around here will return to Oldies.
DC just got a new Oldies station.

Ok this must be the new flavor of the month CC will force on all of there markets.
On the bright side they blew up 730 and not 103.5
And before anyone says CC would not blow up WEZL.
Remember,
WRDU
WFMX
WTRG
and many other popular stations CC has killed.

I'm curious. If they were going to change, wouldn't a good time to do so have been when Music of Your Life changed? They would have had to go to a lot of trouble to keep that format even for a month. Otherwise, they would have been carrying Jones Standards.
