WLTW Back to Numero Uno

Now that the Fall Arbitron book is out in New York City, and WLTW's "Lite-FM" is back to #1 again for the first time since last Spring. Z-100 had been #1 in the Summer book, but now Z-100 is down a bit once again. CBS-FM does well tying with WINS and "Hot 97" in the ratings, but "Fresh" is down some, but it's still competing "Lite-FM".

So kudos to Arbitron for putting this month's Fall ratings.

Any suggestions?

ummmm, I believe that's their JOB, no kudos necessary..
and CBS FM still sounds amazing, blasting on the freeway
 
While WCBS-FM has decent numbers, WXRK-Rock is showing no gains including O & A whose number are mediocre.

No surprise that Lite was #1, they had the all-Christmas music to help pull up their numbers. The real test will be whether they can now retain those numbers or whether they will go back to CBS-FM, Fresh, or other stations.

That being said, I don't believe Lite's December numbers were as robust as in years past, even if they made it to #1. Seems that some of their thunder has been stolen, especially by CBS-FM and also by Fresh.
 
I quite disagree with those who say that LITE's surge is due to their all-Christmas format and will now dwindle.

My wife and I listen to a lot of radio in the car, and LITE and FRESH are among our FM pre-sets. We use the pre-sets to navigate to something we like (our others are CBS-FM, CD101.9 and Q104.) We are not big Christmas music fans -- I like a tune once in a while, but after a while, it gets to be just too much. During the whole month of December, we stayed OFF LITE for precisely that reason and listened to FRESH. Now that the holidays are over, we are back to punching the LITE button. I would suspect that there are many other "returnees" as well, some of whom will "graze" for short periods of time, others who will listen for a while. They will show up in the next book.

Notice also that LITE is now back promoting itself on NY TV via spots. And I haven't seen any of FRESH's snarky "too old, too lite" TV spots lately. Maybe they focus-tested and found they were turning people off.
