WLTW HD 2 Announcement for May 12

106.7 WLTW HD 2 is making a announcement to join a brand new radio station on 106.3 FM for New York City...they are saying its going to be one of the many IHeart radio stations but not saying which one and to find out on May 12.

on the Top of the hour they mention 106.3 is a translator station in New Jersey...how is the new station on 106.3 FM coming on May 12 for New York City ? Is there a new Transmiter for the New York City station on 106.3 ? kind of confusing...

Has anybody actually heard the translator on 106.5? Between Lite FM's IBUZ and Streetz 106.5, it's nearly impossible to hear it.

... hence the impending move to 106.3 and the 9800% power increase that will commence at the new frequency.

I have to wonder how well the 99 watts will penetrate Manhattan with the pirates that pour in on 106.3. On most evenings there's a pirate that penetrates the better part of Manhattan from the Bronx to about 40th st.

How much power does the average pirate station use? I assume it's much less than 99 watts. I'm wondering if the translator will be strong enough to knock them out.

If there's a pirate on 106.3 in the Bronx, it'll interfere in uptown Manhattan. Brooklyn and Newark also have their own 106.3s.

There is no pirate on 106.3 in Newark. (You can hear Thunder 106 in Newark). There is a pirate on 106.5 from either Newark or Elizabeth.
