Who is to say that it "shouldn't sound like a Hot AC? Until the ratings prove otherwise, Lite is going to continue to sound pretty much as it sounds today. I would *not* mess with a winning formula and open the door for a competitor to come in and take away the listeners who obviously seem to like the current version of "Lite."

Based on your comments about CBS-FM as well, I suppose Lite FM should also consider bringing back some of the legendary but old WABC/WCBS-FM DJ's back on the air as well. That's brilliant, make your station sound old when it is the younger demos you are going after.

I completely agree. As much as I prefer CC's AC stations like KOSY/Salt Lake City and KOST/LA (much more traditional sounding "Lite" stations), whatever they are currently doing over at NY's 106.7 seems to be working well for WLTW. I rarely listen anymore (as hearing "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Let's Get Loud" on "Lite-fm" seems like an oxymoron), but I seem to be in the minority, as plenty of their listeners seem to have stayed (or after a brief departure, have returned).

Ironically, returning the "Lite" name to 106.7 after the "New York's 106.7" phase (without changing the music rotation, which, of course, they had made younger late '06 into '07) seemed to have nothing but positive effects on the stations ratings - a real classic case of "perception versus reality."

My apologies for the parentheticals - they just seem to be flowing this afternoon.

Ditto WRXP's PD (101.9 FM).

Probably they're combining the titles into "market managers" or division ....you have one poor guy having to run around managing 10 or more stations. How can that work out well? Damn.
 
KOST certainly doesn't sound like a 'lite' AC station under any circumstances; it's kinda hard to play Eddie Money, Starship, Avril Lavigne, Pat Benatar and Blondie and call yourself an 'AC station'.

Of course, WLTW has a pretty adventurous playlist as well.
 
This is why I wish the HD-2 channel would be moved to the main channel. Classic Lite brings back great memories of 106.7 Lite-FM when it first began up until these past 3-5 years. The great music of the last 30 years, we're the home of legendary New York voices like Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Tony Bennett and more...yet they're trying to compete with PLJ and Fresh. Lite-FM should be what it used to be above, it's not considered 'Lite' anymore. Having Rock, almost rap and current pop artists don't fit.

Most of those have been heard on Lite FM...definitely Avril, Benatar and Blondie, as well as the likes of Boston and Coldplay, and even Shaggy.
 
Bye-Bye Jim Ryan!!!

Today is May 22nd, and now we say goodbye to Jim Ryan, because he is leaving WLTW. As of right now, Chris Conley will take his place. Chris Conley is now the program director for WLTW's "Lite-FM", he was previous a PD for WBEB's "B-101.1" in Philadelphia and he will be taking over Jim Ryan.

Goodbye Jim Ryan, he will be missed! :'(

Yes, and by doing that, Lite FM will rise to the top of the ratings....in the 65+ demographic.

Dude, Lite FM is the #1 station in ratings in NYC and the top biller in the country. They must be doing something right. Bringing back Sinatra, Streisand, etc. will be a ratings disaster. No offense to them, but there's a reason why even pea-shooter AM stations are going with paid programming over a standards format. No advertisers, no money. Lite FM has done an amazing job adapting with the times (something other stations, like CBS-FM, should have done years ago), and last I checked, it's handily beating both PLJ and Fresh.

I'm personally not a huge fan of Lite FM, but I don't deny their success. People need to look at things in radio realistically, instead of pretending this is some sort of radio fantasy league where anything goes.

Hey, I'm just curious as to what you think.....
Who's had more hit records in the past 25 years? Sinatra, Streisand, Diamond and Bennett combined...or lets say Rihanna?
