WLVI Anchors

I don't it works that way. Anchors are under contract, if I'm not mistaken, and I would be suprised if most of them have not already been looking for work in other markets. And there are ALWAYS other markes (especially since most of those markets are smaller than Boston).

But I don't know, just guessing...

Unfortunately looking for work doesn't always equal finding other work.

At least the staff at WLVI had fair warning that this was coming... at least a few months, plus the weeks of speculation beforehand. It's not like some situations where it's just two weeks (or less).

And at least one person already knows where they are going. The Chicago Sun-Times' media reporter mentioned that Lauren Jiggetts will become a general assignment reporter at WMAQ-TV 5, Chicago's NBC O&O.

Wow, that's actually a step up!
This is slightly off topic, but I wonder what the new WLVI will look like. I wonder if they will but 56 in a circle, or bring back the old 56 logo, or just leave it as CW Boston.

One things for sure, TV in Boston will look very different 6 months from now!

It's very coincidental that Lauren is getting an on-air gig in Chicago...the same city where her father played NFL football...and the same market where her father is an on-air analyst for the local cable sports outlet. Also, if my information is correct, WLVI was Lauren's FIRST on-air gig. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I met Lauren when she was doing a story for WLVI. Truely a nice woman, with a good sense of humor. Its good to see her get a nice gig like that. So what if there is family involvement? If you got connections, use em.

Well, I think all the people trying to find work who don't have those connections will have a very different perspective on that!

I agree Garrett but if those people did have those connections, wouldn't they too use them?

Wasn't she with CHannel One Network in LA for a while? Same place where CNN's
Andeson 360 Cooper made his name. ANyway, she seemed not very polished on WB or CW56. It was probably good place to make some audition tapes but she has ways to
go before she gets to the big anchor chair seat. Pretty face, though.

The two guys I'll miss on CW56 is Jim Smith and Terrell Harris. These guys were true road warriors. Reporter's reporter. I am sure Smith will end up at a big shop like WBZ Radio or Channel 5. They love guys like him.

Absolutely. The thing is, for every person who has that luck, there are more than one who don't. And being there myself, I feel bad for them.

If you want to follow Lauren Jiggetts' career, check the entry for her on Wikipedia.

It is interesting that with just days to go, WLVI's old tribune site remains in tact! I wonder what the new WLVI logo will look like; the old 56 in a red circle, perhaps?

Perhaps. But my point is, that WLVI's website is still being run by Tribune. I do not think that will continue when Sunbeam takes over. All of Sunbeam's stations use a different format entirely for their stations.

The 7 logo changed with Sunbeam, so I would suspect 56's will too.

The affiliation is not changing. WHDH will remain an NBC affiliate. WLVI will remain a CW affiliate.

Possible, but from what I can tell, CW affiliates have pretty standard logos. Check out WPSG in Philadelphia, they are owned by CBS. Sure, the website is slightly different, but the logo is quite similar. I wouldn't expect any majoy graphic changes, assuming 56 stays with CW.
