WLVI Anchors

Why would the affiliation change? Just for the hell of it? I don't understand this sudden obsession with the possibility of the CW affiliation leaving Channel 56. If anything does happen, I would assume the CW affiliation will go to WSBK Channel 38 (since WSBK is also owned by CBS).

aren't they still going to be a CW affiliate?

Yes, they will be CW for a while. That's one of the reasons it makes TV56 a more valuable property than say TV38 or TV68 at this point. It has guranteed first-run prime-time programming source for years to come from CBS/Warner Bros TV. So, they probably won't change anything unless CW folds which is always a possibility down the road.

PS. Jack Hynes who co-anchored WLVI's first 10pm newcast in '84 will take part in the last News At 10 edition on Monday night. Classy touch by Uncle Ed to ask Hynes to turn off the lights in 56's newsroom.

I won't be around to see it!!! Can anybody tape this and possbily put it on YouTube and also the first 7 Newscast on 56... I'd greatly appreciate it guys.

by the way, Globe article:

hmm, I didn't know Nat Jacobsen got her start there

>>On Tuesday, the station's ownership will be transferred from the Tribune Co. to media mogul Ed Ansin's Sunbeam Television Corp ., which also owns and operates WHDH-TV (Channel 7). As part of the fallout, WLVI's 150 employees will be let go, including Marinella, effective after Monday night's newscast.

Does anyone know what's happening with WLVI's news director? Is she going to HDH as a producer?

Wasn't she with CHannel One Network in LA for a while? Same place where CNN's
Andeson 360 Cooper made his name.

Channel One News was also where Maria Menounos got her start in journalism! Little did we know she would also dabble as an actress and as a frequent guest on the Howard Stern Show.

It's very coincidental that Lauren is getting an on-air gig in Chicago...the same city where her father played NFL football...and the same market where her father is an on-air analyst for the local cable sports outlet. Also, if my information is correct, WLVI was Lauren's FIRST on-air gig. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Wasn't she with CHannel One Network in LA for a while? Same place where CNN's
Andeson 360 Cooper made his name. ANyway, she seemed not very polished on WB or CW56. It was probably good place to make some audition tapes but she has ways to
go before she gets to the big anchor chair seat. Pretty face, though.

The two guys I'll miss on CW56 is Jim Smith and Terrell Harris. These guys were true road warriors. Reporter's reporter. I am sure Smith will end up at a big shop like WBZ Radio or Channel 5. They love guys like him.
Lauren Jiggetts was on Channel One News? Must have been before I was in middle school. I remember watching Channel One just about every day when I was in middle school in the early 2000s, the days of Janet Choi, Krystal Greene, Tracy Smith, Errol Barnett, Derrick Shore, Andrew Yani, Gotham Chopra, and of course Maria Menounos!
