WLVI-TV 56.2 launches TCN

It would appear that as of this evening, WLVI-TV 56.2 is now carrying TCN, a 24-hour country music video network. I never knew about it until now. We just have to wait for Comcast to add it.

I'm wondering why Sunbeam chose to pick up this particular station as a secondary. I can't imagine that there's that much demand for country music videos in the Boston area.

Some sort of foreign-language channel would probably do better.

Me too. I'm sure it's just an end run by the owner of TCN to get cable carriage.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed by the lack of subchannels carried in the Boston market. There's 7.2, the three PBS subchannels, and the two ION subchannels (and I think 27 runs a secondary channel).

I was hoping for either Antenna TV or MeTV to be on either 56.2 or 7.3. You'd figure that since WHDH 7.2 had already had Weigel's THIS TV on the air, they would add MeTV as a comliment to THIS TV. That's what many other THIS TV affilates are doing. Oh well.....

Many others? Outside of the Weigel O&O stations, there are only three additional affiliates announced, and of those, only one has This TV.

Country music is a very interesting choice. Although it is better than another shopping channel.

As of today, it's available on Comcast on channel 291.
