WLW Afternoon Drive

Rubber necking on 75, at rush hour, while looking at a disabled car way off the interstate. That's my definition of the 3-6 block. I'm surprised they haven't had the gentleman from Hamilton on to recommend poolside etiquette and the multiple uses of inflatable objects.

Bad it is, but it's local, and a bit of comic relief - Something that syndicated "uniblab" cannot offer.

Personally, I find Tracy to be more listenable without Sloanie.

Face it, there's plenty around the tri-state for these guys to make fun of... rednecks, NASCAR hillbillies, ridgerunners, fat people, shade tree mechanics. (Having some relatives in Appalachia myself, I can say those things) Gary Burbank did it... so did the Truckin' Bozo.

Burbank and Sommers did it with style, class and taste. I can't say the same about the trainwreck from 3-6pm on "The Nation's Station".

Pretty arrogant of them to anoint themselves as "the nations station".

Kind of like when Turner called the Braves "America's baseball team".

The were no more our team than the man on the moon.

I can't stand Jones when he's alone. Whenever he's alone he always has "Dr. William Bradford" from San Fran as a guest. A google search shows there are no Doctors by that name in San Fran.

You wonder how they can keep getting away with stuff like that.

Theater of the mind.

And for as much as you all complain, you still listen. It's hilarious.

WLW has been called "the nations station" since they were 500,000 watts in the 30's. This is nothing new.

Thanks for the history lesson. I remembered the 500K but not the slogan. Back then, 500K probably covered North America, right?
But, again, its history. The monster 500K signal is gone..... "glory days" as it were. They still using that slogan?

Honestly.... No... I don't listen. Thank you very much.

Sloanie and Jones can suck Willie's big one, for all I care.

Their show has been a pathetic turn off and disgrace to what 700 USED to be....

I remember when Fingers and Jones started-- that show was decent, but then it went downhill. One can only take so much of Jones asking female callers how much they weigh... The show is old, tired, and played out. Sad that is what Clear Channel has been reduced to selling, and what's even worse is that is what people are buying.

It's about as bad as someone eating McDonald's Big Macs 3 times a day for a year. You would be bloated and ready to explode too...

When 700 was broadcasting with 500K watts, their signal reached all across the globe... not just North America. People could pick the signal up in Australia and in other regions of the world.

Couldn't disagree more. Fingers is a nice guy, and good on FM, but "Eddie & Tracy" was a snoozer right out of the gate.

I don't think many of you understand: Sloanie & Tracy are bad, I agree. But let's face it: One can only handle so much "bad news" every day. Stock market collapsing. Dollar weakening. Gas prices rising. Politics, politics, politics. Obama and Boehner. 401K worth nothing. More soldiers killed. Inflation. Stagflation. Real Estate market worsening. Layoffs...

Tracy making fun of somebody's morbidly obese wife is, at least, a distraction. All you need to do is go to a supermarket to see that he's probably correct. At least these guys provide a few chuckles, even if we're chuckling at how bad the show is.

All very true points...but the fact is that the talent level just is not there, show subject matter or not. Of course there are lots of folks on the air now who have no business being there. It's all quite pathetic actually.

And there's the problem - you claim you don't listen, and yet you're still complaining.

You're like the person that doesn't go to Jungle Jim's, then complains that their selection of items is worse than the IGA down the street. Every time you complain, you make yourself look sillier.

It's more like if you were a former shopper at Jungle Jim's who saw the quality and selection start to go downhill so you stopped shopping there. But from what you hear, nothing is improving, so you loudly voice your displeasure in hopes that Jungle Jim's starts putting an effort into their product.

I USED to listen to 700.. back when Burbank was on, and shortly after when Jones/Fingers started...then it went downhill. I stopped listening for awhile, then listened in when Sloanie started.. and then it just got old. I haven't listened to their "Show" in over 2 years...

So basically, you are saying that I am not allowed to complain.

Clear Channel is a joke... they have been and they always will be. But hey, more power to you.

Exactly. Clear Channel's suits think that what they have on the air is quality. That's a joke, but more power to you all that think that Jones/Sloanie show is the "greatest thing since sliced bread"... it's horrible radio.
