WLW and its new fight between Seg and Willie

tonyincincy said:
More than likely?? C'mon...it was community theatre acting and an elementary school storyline.

Actually its a great storyline. Only thing that would have been better would have been if Seg would have taken a vacation as well...the guy never gets a day off of work, he must have like 10 years of paid vacation saved up LOL.

How in the hell was that a great storyline?

A great storyline would be a plausable storyline...not one that flies in the face of common sense and results in everyone with half a brain responding to it by saying, "Oh, Willie must be going on vacation."

Looking through the world of entertainment, a storyline does not have to be plausible to be entertaining. Are the storylines on Lost, X-Files, Jericho, etc...plausible? Using common sense, no. However when you listen to radio or watch TV you need to suspend disbelief, sit back and enjoy. Otherwise you get your panties in a wad over something stupid. When did people become so serious about RADIO.

Looking at the world of TV...it reminds me more of a dying show where the same plot is repeated over and over...episode after episode....season after season.

I guess I didn't put my thoughts out clearly...it wasn't unbelievable that Seg would pretend to get in a fight with Willie before Willie went on vacation. It was unbelievable that they have been doing the same plot for a decade now. Unbelievable that a few(and just a few) people fall for it. And REALLY unbelievable that some people think it is still clever.

I had a flashback to 1996, I left town for 8 years, come back and it is Groundhog Day on the formerly great Big 1.

Willie is a talented guy...

Elvis was a talented guy, but when he was making the same dumb movie over and over, I think a lot of people just rolled their eyes and wished he would stop. I guess there were people who thought Spinout was a great story too.

I wish they woulda played one of those 2 minute timeshare commercials instead of dead air, I guess because Willie was in a fight and couldn't hit his next spot? Yep, clever.

CC really needs to get WLW some new script writers. I agree listening to WLW is like Groundhogs Day which is a perfect way to describe the current state of The Big One

I wonder if the person who came up with that lame-brained phony fight will be involved in the production of Willie's new Sunday night show.

That would just be another scar on this city.

The professional depths that WLW has sunken to were made evident to me when Rosemary Clooney died and the powers that be did some sort of promo/memorial linking the current WLW to the quality station it was in her day. I imagine she wouldn't much approve of what she would be hearing on the station anymore.

WLW is now best compared with the irreverence of WEBN, not the powerhouse days of the Clooney era.

So I listen to WLW...and think it is cool Bill and Seg and the whole crew up there can have a job that pays their bills and they can actually have fun too, whether the acting was lame or not. They could've just run the best of Bill or something like every other station would've done. I think it shows that Bill actually cares about his show. Why would someone who is going on vacation want to put any extra work into anything. There is some passion there that is missing in most of radio. Side note - Radio is in the entertainment business right?

I would call this lame attempt at humor, a "jump the shark" moment for this once proud station. Embarrassing is what it was.

Maybe she won't, but one out of every ten people in the Cincinnati area seem to.

It's entertainment/news/music/etc., but this stuff has happened so much in radio it's unoriginal and not fooling anybody. What's next? Someone's going to get "suspended?" Wink wink. This doesn't come off as entertaining. It comes off as phony.

Hey I am wondering this, I bet when Willie put Adam Dunn down if Willie didn't get suspended for a week over it? Thats why they staged the fight. They didn't want people to know that Willie got suspended. Adam Dunn needs to stop depending on his mommy to fight for him. What a drybaby he is.

How would that be a "scar" on the city of Cincinnati? Please explain. I bet you were one of those whining that the casket giveaway was "unprofessional, blah blah blah.

If he really cared about his show, and the station...he woulda INSISTED on a bestof show instead of letting DParks fill in for him...

OK..Willie goes on vacation and something "happens"..either he's "suspended" by the fictional Helen Mays or he gets into a fight with Seg. Nothing new.

Tito, you CC apologist you, that is what we are talking about. The casket giveaway WAS something new, something original and VERY GOOD. This tired "he's suspended", "I quit", "I want an apology" is wearing thin and you would think heritage station like WLW would have the leadership to see that. When the PD put's his own Willie-wannabe a$$ on the air as a replacement, it is obvious there is no leadership in that building.

Wow I'm an apologist for Clear Channel? What's next accusing me of being behind 9/11?

Lets see, Monday a new part of the storyline...Willie puts a TRO on Seg and institutes a search to find the THIRD stooge in the booth. We are now near what is called the Climax of a story, with the resolution being of course, Willie & Seg reaching some sort of agreement and a third stooge to make some appearances on the show as well, unless of course its a one time thing.

By the way I have absolutely no affiliation with Clear Channel or any other radio company. Just giving observations from one who knows how to enjoy a magician even when I know how the trick is done.

why are you all so consumed with whats going on at The Big 1? do any of you actually have jobs?

If Willie had 3 judges get involved in his debockle, is the fight really fake?

What's a TRO? If its a restraining order, why don't they call it a restraining order and not always refer to it as a TRO?
