WLW and last Saturday's OVI checkpoint

Did WLW ever report the specific location of last Saturday nights OVI checkpoint? I had them on for a couple hours after noon on Saturday and never heard them mention where it was.

The Enquirer never followed up their initial story of where it was either...and even deleted all comments on their web page news story about it.

Was it cancelled?

Correction:

I don't think the Enquirer deleted its posts about the checkpoint story. They just seemed slow to load on the web page. I did note that when I read the story on the web page Saturday, it had last been updated at about 11:30 am Saturday, now the last update seems to have been at 8 am Friday.

Maybe there has been a change in the disclosure requirements? Either that or sloppy news coverage.

in ne ohio, when ohp does ovi checks, they announce a target time period, but never exactly where.....
the point of ovi checks is to get unsafe drivers off the road, safely.

Actually by law they must announce where the checkpoints will be and when.

.............................................................................................................

That's the way I've always understood it. A general announcement a day or so beforehand, then the specifics given by noon of the day it will occur.

To quote a portion of the Friday article on the Enquirer's web page:

"....The time and location will be announced Saturday morning, said Lt. Brian Rhodes, commander of the patrol's Georgetown post. Cincinnati police will assist."

I'm just wondering why nothing else was mentioned about it.

talked with post commander in medina about this.

for safety reasons, notice of ovi check points are announced the morning of the day they take place. specific time frame IS mentioned, EXACT milepost marker location IS NOT.

let the patrol keep our roads safe by getting impaired drivers OFF THE ROAD safely.

By announcing the time and location beforehand, drivers know this is the real thing.

I've seen some people put in their own stop signs and painting their own crosswalks. I've also heard of thieves placing barricades across a road and then waiting to rob some unsuspecting person who gets out of their car to try to move the barricade.

If the checkpoint locations were not announced, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to set up a fake checkpoint.

They announce them in advance to comply with a Court decision which stated that if they didn't announce when and where in advance, it was an infringement of citizens' rights against illegal searches and seizures.

I'm just questioning why the follow up announcement wasn't passed on by the Enquirer or (as far as I know) by WLW. They both have always passed on the information in the past. I was wondering if something has changed regarding the announcement procedure.

Once again, WLW isn't mentioning the upcoming Friday night checkpoint in Clermont County, which was announced yesterday (August 21) in the Enquirer.

The Enquirer has also not bothered to mention the follow up information as to more precisely where and when it was going to occur.

According to the Enquirer article:

"The time and location of the operation will be announced Friday morning, said Lt. Randy McElfresh, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol post in Clermont County. Such operations typically run from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m."

Either the Patrol post isn't announcing it, or our media sources aren't passing the information on to the public.

Gotta love Cable Guy.

wlw had the DUI checkpoint on the air, in the news on thursday afternoon and friday, saying it will be on highway 28 in goshen. AND...
Cable Guy, check the front page of the local section of the Friday Enquirer. Look to the left of the page Cable Guy and you will see:

GOSHEN TWP.
Police to conduct
DUI checkpoint

Guess he's too busy with the cable access show to read.
