Strange, but (apparently) true: XM is adding a full-time simulcast of 700 WLW to its channel lineup as part of a legal settlement with Clear Channel.

It's a common mistake to not use punctuation in its proper form.

What a bunch of nonsense.

Apparently I'm not complaining loud enough to XM. Time to march infront of their offices.
______________

At 5AM it's probably still too dark to learn much from the
experience. You are doubly blessed.....
______________

Re: WLW becomes

Legal settlement? What are they settling? The only story I found online about this says nothing about a legal settlement.

WLW lineup joins XM Satellite network

The "Big One" is getting bigger. WLW-AM (700), the 50,000-watt "nation's station," truly will be nationwide on Wednesday.

Mike McConnell, Gary Burbank, Bill Cunningham, Jim Scott and most of Cincinnati's top-rated news-talk-sports station will be added to the XM Satellite Radio lineup as Channel 173.

Only the Reds and Bengals games won't be on the channel. XM has a separate deal for Major League Baseball, while Sirius Satellite owns NFL rights.

WLW-AM called itself the "nation's station" when it was the only U.S. station to broadcast experimentally on 500,000 watts from 1934 to 1939. "Everything has come full circle," says Darryl Parks, WLW operations director."

If it's not in the paper, it must not be, right? :D

Check the XM board here for more. It appears the WLW addition is related to an arbitrated settlement between XM and Clear Channel, regarding advertising revenues made during the time CC programmed channels on XM.

Since CC doesn't program any other XM channels, they had to add one to get revenues per the settlement (starting March 2006). Voila - welcome WLW.

The whole thing's in an XM 10Q filing with the SEC, dug up by various XM fan message boards. It hasn't been confirmed anywhere, but is pretty obvious when you read the 10Q text in question.

Of course, since the Enquirer article is basically a press release rewrite, you won't find this there...and besides, it's not terribly important to the "radio news" column anyway.

Complaining about what?

Sirius already carries WSM - clear channel (small 'c') 650.
Maybe satellite radio will also pick stations like WGN and KGO.
