WLW, Clear Channel extending contracts of local teams.

Clear Channel locked up the Reds on WLW for five more years last week, and just announced a five-year extension with Xavier basketball for WLW and WKRC-AM. Trying to keep their sports properties from bolting to FM 100 The Fan, even though it's hard to keep up with what station will air Xavier or the UC Bearcats. Xavier gets bounced to WKRC if the Reds or UC are on WLW. UC gets bounced to ESPN 1530, KISS 107 or WEBN if the Reds or Bengals are on WLW.

Just curious....how far away can FM 100 The Fan be heard? I think that is something that should play a part when considering a station for airing a team's games.

I can hear it up till around exit 28 on I-71 North. By comparison, I can pick up 96ROCK all the way up to exit 75.

Personally, I think it is a bad idea putting sports on 100.3. 94.1 would have been the better frequency if they wanted to make a splash in the market.

Gee guys, that's why there are "networks" of stations. As long as one station covers the market, then that just opens up additional properties to carry the games.
