WLW IBOC turned off

I noticed a few days ago WLW IBOC has been turned off. I can't listen to them when they have that noise on. Anyone know how long it has been off, and will it stay off? (I hope).

It's been off for most of this month at least. I bet the transmitter bit the dust or it had a software lock up. They could also be on a back up transmitter.

It sounds good and loud up here near Columbus. This is the longest I can remember that garbage being off in a long time. Good riddance!

As of today, I noticed IBOC is back on WLW. Man, I thought IBOC was off of WLW for good! :'(

At least on AM radio here in Columbus, IBOC appears to have disappeared for good. IBOC has not been on
CCs 610 and 1230 for almost a year now. Also, the new owners of 820 AM turned off IBOC over a year ago.
Any other reports on IBOC on the AM band? I can report Columbus is free of the AM IBOC hiss for good!

I've noticed that when they turned the IBOC or IBloc or IBuzz as I like to call it a few weeks ago, WLW's night time signal is not as good.

The interference that IBOC causes is truly amazing. I am 160 (!) air miles from WTVN. When it's on, I get hiss on 600. When it's off, I get WMT in Cedar Rapids,IA during the day. With IBOC, a little goes a long way.

Yes, the continued, depraved madness of AM iboc still amazes and confounds engineers who have upheld and maintained the highest
standards of analog modulation. WTMJ amazed me today, as they still have the awful rev 1 and is the audio equivalent of
soiling one's self in the undies and doing nothing about it.

Very much agreed. There's more cancellation out here by Buckeye Lake (30 miles east of Columbus) when it's on. When it's off this time of year, the nighttime signal is considerably better.

.... HD on AM at night is useless ....

Bravo! for a few and well chosen words. I believe the uselessness is by intent and design.

Here in Cleves HD renders WLW unlistenable (in and out of HD--- audio delay never matching-- or worse locking on HD and there is no audio) Especially frustrating for Reds games when the iHeart feed is blocked---

I recently donated my HD radio to Goodwill-- good riddance. This year I will be able to hear every pitch on my VERY Old Trans Oceanic (now equipped with an aux out)

The only way HD Radio could be fixed is if Powel Crosley could come back from beyond the grave and reverse engineer it.
I'm not even sure that Powell himself could reverse engineer this abortion.
