WLWC 28 Ends Analog Early?

I was flipping through the channels today and I caught a quick promo on WLWC/CW28 stating that they were ending analog broadcasting in 1 day. Is this part of a test or are they ending early?

They might want to tell the FCC that. Like, a month ago. Because stations are supposed to notify the FCC when they kill the analog and... there's nothing in the database for WLWC.

WLWC's website is very obviously a direct copy of the KEYE Austin website. Check their HDTV section, they talk about being the first station in Austin with an HD newscast.

So since they have already shut off the analog signal, why are they still running the DTV conversion spots?

Congressional/FCC mandate. Everyone has to keep running them right up till 2/17.

WFXT/25 makes an early analog exit as well (was Re: WLWC 28 Ends Analog Early?)

Well, better add one more station to the list of early analog exits. According to a couple of sources, WFXT/Analog 25 's transmitter failed sometime today (Thursday). Apparently they felt that it was not worth the expense in getting it fixed for only 2 more months of use. So, if you are looking for FOX this evening, and you are not hooked into cable or satellite, or have an digital decoder OR if you cannot receive WNAC/64 in Providence, you're out of luck. So, the latest early exits from analog are as follows..... WGBY/57, WGGB/40, WZMY/50, WLWC/28 and now WFXT/25. I would not be surprised if other stations have "early exits" ;) from analog.

One of the two WPXT 51 or WPME 35 are still on at half power, the other is off... so thats another.

WPME-DT is now operating on 35, so that one's digital, and WPXT shut off their analog on September 13 according to multiple FCC filings, so actually both are digital-only.

WPME's 387 showing the flash-cut has occurred: http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws...3095&Service=TV&Form_id=387&Facility_id=48408

WPXT's 387 showing the analog has been terminated: http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws...3106&Service=TV&Form_id=387&Facility_id=53065

Good catch on the WPME operating on 35 post all ready.

So the tally as of now is:
WGGB-TV 40 is gone (transmitter failure)
WGBY-TV 57 is gone (antenna replacement)
WFXT-TV 25 is gone (transmission line failure)
WLWC-TV 28 is gone (aging analog transmitter)
WPXT-TV 51 is gone (transmitter failure ?)
WPME-TV 35 is gone (??)
WWDP-DT 52 is gone (pre transition channel, cleared for antenna replacement)

Who goes next? (So far word about Maine Public TV.)
