WLWC channel 28 transitioning into CW

While watching smackdown tonight I noticed alot of the station promos are now CW28.Although there is alot of promos that still call themselves "The U UPN28".I'm sure those will slowly be dropped.
Not sure how long they have been sneaking in the CW28 logo.
When does CW debut and when is the last broadcast for UPN and WB?

UPN and The WB end officially on Sunday Sept. 17, 2006. WB is going to do a "final night" celebration with pilots of their best shows. I don't know about UPN, as they don't broadcast on Sunday nights.

The CW begins on Mon Sept. 18, 2006. I see that many stations are already changing logos and it's not even August.

UPN 38 fan, I did visit the UPN28 site and it directs you to the NEW CW28 site. This seems that there will be a big advertisement campain for the new network. They have also given them selves a new moniker. "Providence's entertainment station."
I think I read somewhere that the network is throwing loads of cash at affilliates for thier debut.
Not sure if WLVI is calling themselves CW56 yet. maybe other folks in New England can add too this thread about thier CW affiliates and is WSBK still using UPN38 or have they gone to a generic bug of WSBK-TV or TV38 or something.

CW does debut Monday, Sept. 18; however no programming premieres until Wednesday, Sept. 20. (Odd, huh?) I would imagine that they'll air preview shows during primetime for those two days.

WSBK has been airing some preview promos for TV38, but the branding remains UPN38.

WLVI hasn't aired anything featuring their new logo/moniker as of yet.

WTXX-TV (WB) channel 20 of Waterbury/Hartford has run an occasional CW spot. WCTX-TV (UPN) channel 59 of New Haven/Hartford runs plenty of ads with the same "MY 9" logo as WWOR-TV in New York City. They're still calling themselves "UPN 9" (their cable positioner) for now.

Actually, WCTX has transitioned to MY TV9 on air and online.

As for WSBK, they probably will hold on to UPN until the last second, as they have no new network to hook up with. (How exciting). On the 18th, they will launch a 9:30 newscast.

I was watching WCTX yesterday and they were using both "UPN 9" and "MY TV 9". Like at the top of the hour it was still "News Chanenl 8's Weather on the Hour on UPN 9". But when the shows started and would come back from a commercial break they'd stick up the "MY TV 9" logo for a few seconds. However in-between the end of Thew Insider and the Beginning of Home Improvement they aired a long drawn out preview of According to Jim and the logo on they had on the screen was for "UPN 9". They also had the word's coming soon.

Meanwhile WPIX in NYC is also gonna be carrying Accroding to Jim and they say "Coming This Fall to the New CW-11 and on the screen it says "Starting September 18th CW-11".

Folks, you need to start rolling the VCRs on this stuff, so we can post it all to You Tube once the change happens! :D

WLVI in Boston has been airing some promos for the CW network itself, but I haven't seen anything regarding WLVI's branding under the new network. Presumably it's not going to be CW 56, as they've spent the last few years trying to slowly become "Boston's WB". Perhaps they'll just go by "Boston's CW"?

Anyone know how any of Tribune's other big market stations are transitioning? As Marc noted below, WPIX will be known as CW-11. However, WPIX has built a strong identity around the WB brand. Some of Tribune's other stations, most notably KTLA and WGN, are better known for their call letters than their affiliation. I'd expect that the two stations will keep their identities as they are, but could CW-5 and CW-9 be en route? I believe that WGN has been doing about the same transitioning so far as WLVI; in any case, Tribune will have quite some work in the month ahead, seeing that most of MNTV's O&Os have their new identities in place.

And speaking of MNTV, WZMY has been airing ads for MyNetworkTV, which include the new logo that says "My TV New England".

I just noticed that their legal ID is incorrect, they're using the COL as Providence instead of the designated New Bedford. I believe stations may use any additional city they wish -- so long as the licensed one is listed first. So New Bedford-Providence would be entirely legal, but what they're using is not.
