WLWC UPN-28 on Directv

Tonight, Right now I am trying to watch Smackdown with my Tivo reciever.WLWC is comming in horrible.Like an Antenna is not tuned in properly. Snow, Shadows etc.
So I called Directv to complain and the guy who took my call was trying to say they don't carry WLWC.I then instructed him to bring to bring up the stations in Providence.
I then asked him how they recieved the signals from local affiliates and he had no clue.I wanted him to connect me a control center op[erator so they could see what I am seeing.I know it's not on my end because everthing else is fine.

Anyone else experiencing problems with WLWC on Directv?

10 minutes later....................

It seems my message got where it was supposed too. They have fixed the signal.
Edited by kenwood on 06/10/05 01:07 AM.

If DirecTV receives WLWC off air, and the transmitter dumped to low power or they reduced the power, there is a slight chance the issue could be related to that.

What you might be also seeing is some effects of the wicked strong tropo we are having tonight. Their off air receiver could very well be getting interference from something else, like a digital 28 or another analog 28.
The tropo has been VERY strong tonight.

I thought of that but would think they would be better prepared for that. like use a microwave link.
On a microwave hop, Do you ever get tropo?

I don't think there is such a things as a microwave backup. I am a Directv customer living in NH and the reception for WMUR this time of year is terrible with ghosting and multipath problems. Sometimes it is even unviewable. I was told they have one location which picks up all the off the air signals for stations in the Boston DMA (I think it is in Sommerville). I would suspect they have something similar for Providence.

What I don't understand is WNEU broadcast from almost the same location (both stations have towers on Mt Uncanounic - I know it's not spelled correctly) and I don't have any mutlipath problems from them. Is it UHF vs VHF or is Directv picking up Ch32 out of Boston instead (WNEU is a simulacast of 32)

It sounds like your issue is either an antenna at the DirecTV receive site or another issue. I know that DirecTV and DISH both use seperate antennas for EVERY station they pick up. So it does seem possible.
