YOU KNOW BILL JONES IS SHAKING IN HIS SHOES RIGHT NOW. THERE'S NO WAY THAT A NEW GUY CAN COME IN AND REPLACE DON DAY. THEY ARE IN SERIOUS DANGER OF BECOMING WALLPAPER, AND BAMA COUNTRY IS THE PAINT BRUSH!!!

WLWI is an excellent station and a good competitor. They just happen to be in the middle of one of the biggest programming dilemmas a programmer or station can have - replacing an institution. No matter what they do the new guy (or girl) will be judged unfairly at first. Usually it's the "second" new host that ends up being successful not the direct replacement. Glad it isn't me in this situation!!! WLWI isn't going anywhere morning show or not. Let's give credit where it is due.

When Dan Rather replaced Walter Kronkite, he was an almost instance success and was accepted. The key is to get somebody REALLY good when you're replacing someone as noteworthy as Don. Then people will be so sold by the person's talent, they won't try to compare them with who they are replacing.

My point is...nobody watched Dan Rather and thought, "Hmm he's no Walter Kronkite." That's why he kept the job for almost 40 years. Sucks how he lost it, though.

Bill Jones is a great guy and even better country programmer. I know Don's shoes will be hard to fill, but, with Bill making the choice, it will be a good one. WLWI is a heritage country station, and even with all he's doing with Cumulus, it is still Bill's baby and he won't do anything to hurt it's status as a country giant!

It didn't happen instantly.
