WLW's lineup shuffle

I’ve enjoyed WLW’s lineup shift this week. Too bad it can’t become permanent. McConnell really is better in his old spot. And I like Sloanie in the afternoons. He adds a touch of upbeat professionalism that isn’t there normally. The afternoon drive slot has been a shameful embarrassment since Burbank retired.

As far as Ken Broo, I really like him in morning drive. I thought he’d be a better fit in afternoons but his polished and conversational tone is quite nice while driving into work. He sounds more natural and comfortable in that time slot than McConnell. Doubt that Broo giving up his TV gig is in the offing though.

Regardless, the spotload and clutter make WLW almost unlistenable whatever the lineup. They really need to smooth out their presentation and dial things back a notch. The overhyped promos and crap are fatiguing. Seems this could be accomplished without losing the excitement factor and sense of humor for which they’re known. I also think the trafficcommercialsandweathertogether every ten minutes in drive time has become too restricting and interrupts the flow all too often. How about just on the quarter hour? Most people now check traffic and weather on their apps anyway.

I enjoyed Mike McConnell's weekend show for several years. I tried the Chicago show after he left Ohio, but it wasn't the same. :(

Mike's Cincinnati act just didn't seem to play in Chicago. He tried to make the adjustment (especially after Randy Michaels and Kevin Metheny were gone) but only lasted one contract. Can you imagine Willie at WGN, as Michaels had intended?
