Why does this station sound so dated? They position themselves as " Playing the best variety of the 80's, 90's and today but yet you here 70's music ( off the wall music ) such as Edwin Starr (Contact) along with Marvin Gaye and Al Green.. You here more 70's music then anything else..And the pukemouth jocks using references such as " off the chain and smokin"... Wow.. The mix I heard in the 5pm hour was Archie Bell and the Drells " Tighten Up into Chaka Khan ( wow an 80's title) into I feel for You!! DAMN!!
 
I thought I was the only one! This station is SO boring. I'd love for CUMULUS to bring on a new Urban/hip hop station. Hot 103.9 has no city grade signal and is impossible to pick up in buildings in Columbia.
 
Sounds like a generation gap issue. Young listeners may want hip hop, but the 40-50 somethings dig Chaka Khan and Marvin Gaye. I've always thought the station did a good job with it's presentation and music and serves the community well. And for a 6000 watter, the ratings aren'
t bad.
 
It's funny looking at the charts it looks like Hip Hop might be heading for a slump but yet I see people talking about a station format change toward Hip Hop. I guess the future will tell which way things will go.
