WMAG is easy listening

http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/S...SJ_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1173353708602

I have read this article, in the actual paper, since I was on this site. I called Tim Clodfelter, thinking that he was making a derogatory remark, and he told me that's what WMAG wants to call themselves.

Are they SERIOUS? No AC station wants to be perceived as easy listening. And no one in the Triad market can honestly be called easy listening except AM stations you can pick up during the day, but not well enough to please most people.

I never would have believed they'd call themselves "Soft Rock", but it happened! Maybe it's all that's left to differentiate themselves from Simon. Whatever....you can be sure that some consultant somewhere said it was a good idea. And, yes, I'm quite sure there are a lot of people still listening to WMAG...the REAL Magic.

Think about the transition of music.....

Easy Listening in 2008, may just be AC, or may be in line of my favorite bourbon: AAC - Aged AC.

An evolution in names to accommodate an aging audience.

Dare I state the obvious? :p :'(

There is NOTHING easy about listening to WMAG! Thank you. Waiter...oh waiter!

But seriously, they sounded way better before they went all Xmas. Something is different in a not easy to listen to way, ya know!!!

Well, in case you're not aware...they let their PD go before Christmas. The Charlotte PD, Nick Allen, who programmed WMAG in its heyday is now back handling the programming. That could be why you're detecting a change.
