WMAL???

Is this true? Some of those people have been there for 30+ years!

Rupert Murdoch has made a deal with Citadel to acquire news talker WMAL to air Fox News Radio. And the entire local air staff, management, and news department are expected to be dismissed during a "big meeting" slated for Monday, 4/3, the same day the new line-up goes into effect.

Radio Warrior,

That story was DCRTV's idea of an April Fools joke.

The "story" had so many details already in place that it had to be a joke. There would have been a lot more initial uncertainty and confusion about the implications for WMAL had the deal been real.

I used to read DCRTV all the time, but in the last few years, Dave Hughes, the site owner, has increasingly brought politics into the overall picture. In my opinion, his dislike for conservatives is apparently the reason for his ongoing onslaught on WMAL and Fox News. After awhile, it gets old. Sort of makes me wonder if he'll next be bashing *.......*(insert any topic that might not offend the uneducated here). I no longer support the site.

*Edited on 04/02/06 so as not to offend the religious liberals and conservatives not to mention the blah, blah, blah -)

Ahh yes...you always have to jump from politics to religion don't you? You just can't keep them two seperate topics???

Yeah with all the " LIBERAL" media out there, it must be hard for a red blooded American male in a red state to find comfort.
There a 5 million Christian coalition members out there and I'm sure you can cry in the your beer with one of them.

If you live in the DC area, religious programming is on some of the most powerful FM signals EG: WAVA, and WGTS. While unlike most other large cities, the DC area has NO decent commercial alternative rock outlet, and no college radio that plays cutting edge music.
The Air America afiliate in DC is on a 5,000 watt station that has such atiquated grounding, that it's day time signal is almost inaudible in a 3rd of the metro area, and at night everywhere except for the immediate neighborhood around the transmitter
DC has One OK jazz station that has some blues programming. Only One station that plays Blues!!! That's Shameful in a town that has a large African American population plus a lot of artists, and musicians and college students.
So Neo-Con, In this day and age your whining is unwelcome, and innapropriate.

Signed,

Not Dave Hughes

Dave's political viewpoints can get old. But, it is his site. I think he only hurts himself by alienating a lot of people who would otherwise donate and I have written to him with this suggestion.

I think Dave has toned it down some in recent months, but I am sure DCRTV will be overloaded with politics as the congressional elections approach.

I just scroll past the political stuff and other items I don't particularly like. Just because its there, doesn't mean you have to read it.

I recently sent Dave a $50 donation. I told him I would have sent him twice as much but he pi**es me off half the time. :)

Exactly. The fact is, I haven't really made it a point to listen to WMAL since "Harden & Weaver". I really don't care about a station's or a person's political convictions, but I do mind them being rammed down my throat. None of us are going to become well educated by listening to today's radio or for that matter, watching today's TV. I'm glad that you have spoken to Dave concerning the matter though. I hope it helps. Thanks.
