Just found on Rich Samuels' Chicago Broadcast History website a complete Thursday, February 23, 1967 10PM newscast from WMAQ-TV 5. The "NBC Night Report" had Floyd Kalber doing News and Sports and Harry Volkman with Weather. While the Newscast was in color the file is a B&W Kinescope..The file is in 7 segments of 2-6 minutes each and will play in Real Player. Includes all commercials within the newscast. Interesting curiosity.

I've never been to Chicagoland (I grew up in the Philly area) but although I was 5 1/2 years old in Feb. 1967, I remember seeing Kalber, doing daytime news updates on the Peacock. Seeing that animated NBC News logo at the newscast's end brought back memories too.

The WMAQ set reminded me of the news set of Philadelphia's WFIL-6 (then ABC affiliated and now Disney/ABC O&O WPVI) before it adopted the "Action News" approach in late 1969.

Thanks for bringing back a tiny piece of my childhood. :)
