WMAX Stunting

On February 1st at 3 PM, 96.1 Max FM (WMAX) in Grand Rapids, MI dropped their hybrid Hot AC / mainstream rock format and began stunting with the sounds of a ticking clock. Every 2 or 3 minutes, the ticking stops, and a liner is played. The liners either make reference to "02 / 04 / 08 at 10:01 AM", the launch date for the station's new format, a clip promoting a new all-Britney Spears format, or something in or about Spanish (example: "Dial #1410 for Spanish"). In addition, all of the TOH IDs are in Spanish as well for some strange reason. Sometimes, an actual song is played. In the 21-minute webcheck that I've recorded, you'll hear Coldplay's Clocks - which is a terrific song, by the way, and a good song to play due to the ticking clock sounds - and the end bit of another song that I couldn't identify. Liners played before and after the songs seem to be hinting that the station will go all-rock on Monday, February 4th at 10:01 AM. Anyway, here's a link to the clip:

I'll follow up with a webcheck of the format change on Monday. Until then, enjoy this clip.
