WMBB-TV

Let's hope and pray that Magic Broadcasting doesn't venture into television....

Wow WMBB.....that brings back memories!

Not to get off topic, but I recently went through some of my old videotapes from the 80's and 90's, and I found some old newscasts from WMBB. The oldest one I have is from December 1986 when WMBB was in their old studio near McKenzie Park. It had Larche Hardy doing the news, Bob Petermann on weather, and Paul Joseph on sports. It was pretty neat checking out all the old graphics. I also found some from the early 90's with Ed Bradford, Kathy Oliver, Mark Koelbel, Captain Norm Miller, and Tanya Rivera are on there. Jerry Tabbat is on there with a mustache! I even found an old tape of non-stop Hurricane Opal coverage from 1995 from both WMBB and WJHG.

Oh the memories. So WMBB is getting sold? Is this just WMBB or Media General altogether? (Our CBS affiliate WKRG channel 5 is also owned by Media General).

I was the voiceover guy opening those newscasts in the early 90's on WMBB.

But I've moved on to greener pastures now. Doing the same thing for WJHG since 2001.

Any chance I could get my hands on some of the audio from those tapes?

I've seen WMBB's newscasts and they out rank the crap we get out here.

I wonder if clear channel will buy them.
Is cumulus into television? or just radio?

actually, you've been ignoring the trashing you routinely get here for a very long time...
or haven't you noticed?

CHRIS, I'd have to call it more of a friendly harassment of good ole rob. I don't think anyone
has a real problem with him. Makes these here parts fun to read. It makes me SEE radio
in a different light. (See WMEZ posts to get that one.)

Rob is loved and protected on here. The Moderators know he's in good company.

Sure. I don't really have a way to get the audio off there, but I do have a DVD recorder so I could put it on DVD for you and you can take the audio from there. i have one tape from early November 1992, in fact it was taped the day after the presidential election in which Bill Clinton won. It's got the tail end of WMBB news at 10pm, followed by Married With Children, Nightline, Entertainment Tonight, Rush Limbaugh, a complete re-broadcast of the news at 10, then it gets a couple hours of World News Now with the local cut in's. There's a weather break from Capt. Norm, a newsbreak with Kathy Oliver during WNN. Back then WMBB was calling itself "Your 24 hour news source".

What else do you want? I have wall to wall hurricane Opal coverage too. Feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thanks.
