WMBL

Big Ape, There is a "cult" following for spring reverbs. The DSP chip has taken the place of the old spring reverb as well as the steel plate. Where you could go out and buy an AKG or Neumann steel plate The "holy Grail" of reverbs for thousands of dollars, You can get an Alesis DSP reverb for a couple of hundred dollars and get pitch shifting and several other effects.

What up Eddie??? You are gonna have a fun next few weeks aren't you.I may roll by and see you in the next few days...

Good afternoon Everyone on this line for WMBL. I thought since his name was mentioned often, I would let you know about John "Jay Cobb" Erwin, who worked in Radio Broadcasting (in Carteret County, NC) for approximately 50 years and lived with a transplanted heart (from Duke Hospital, Durham, NC) for a period of time exceeding 17 years. Jay was my husband and he passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at our home in Newport, North Carolina. He loved his job so much that he never considered it "work". We were married for 37 years. May God bless all of you this Christmas and bring you much happiness.

While we are remembering those great "AM" stations from the past, there is no
doubt for those who visited the Central & Southern Coastal areas of North Carolina
back in the 1960's and 1970's that "Famous 740" WMBL was the station to listen
to, with people like Jay Cobb, Duke Roberts, Sunny, and others on during the day,
including News from the "North Carolina News Network" and the music, it was the
station most tuned in to during that era, my favorite part of it was the "reverb".
My name is Nina Erwin. My husband John "Jay Cobb" passed away at our home in Newport, NC, on Sunday morning, December 15, 2019. He was 78 years young. He loved his work as a radio broadcaster.
