WMC 2006

Makes one wonder if the voters actually have listened to WKTU as is if they were the only Dance station in the United States.

BTW I voted for KNGY, but at least XM81/BPM did nab the Best Satellite Radio award.

The awards show again was a big let down. They rushed through some of the big awards and to be honest my high school had a better awards ceremony.

Best inhouse promoter Derek Scott Graves? are you kidding me? He wasnt even there and the people from star 69 even admitted on stage they had no product this year. How can you not give it to John Parker or Frank Murray from Robbins? Thats a slam dunk

Robbins should have also won best US Dance label. Ultra has great product, but Robbins is on fire right now.

Best new dance group the pussycat dolls? Even some of the dance stations were not playing the remix. DHT should have won that one.

I know one thing, IDMA should take some lessons from the Dance Music Hall of Fame

:)

First off, I would have given the In-House promoter award to Frank Murray this year. 2 Top 10 Pop hits with Dance records. No one else, including me, was in his league this year.

Also, how is Ultra's Phil Nieves not even listed as a nominee? He was last years winner!!!

I heard that one nominee asked for his name to be removed as he doesn't even do promotion.

For the indie promoter, it was an insult to not give Bobby Shaw 2 minutes to say thank you. He's devoted his career to dance music and all's he got was his picture on the screen. Couldn't PVD have had one less award presented onstage, I mean he was out of things to say after the 2nd award. No disrespect to Paul but c'mon.

We all love Ultra but they should have won last year and were ripped off. Maybe this was a make-up. :)

I suggest next January, the Radio-Info.com Awards. At least I know we'll get the nominees right. ;)

Best conference week(s) yet!

Whoever says dance music is dead... needs to check out MMC and WMC for a reality check. It was by far the busiest I can remember. Everything was packed like sardines.

Ultra festival was a major cluster... I really wish I would have went to Global Gathering instead. After waiting 3 1/2 hours for our will-call tickets, and still 2 hours away from the actual ticket booth.. we decided to leave and head over to Club Space to get on the list there... glad we did that.

I saw some really great parties this year. Nocturnal and Pawn Shop were amazing! Basically Crobar took over Nocturnal and brought in some great talent. I got to see Above & Beyond for the first time. Others at this party: Bad Boy Bill, Benny Benassi, BT, Dj Dan, Dj Irene, Donald Glaude, Eddie Halliwell...Amazing!

Other AMAZING parties we hit:
Blank & Jones
Erick Morillo at Club Space
DJs around the world at Gryphon (Hard Rock Casino)
Carl Cox at Crobar
DT Pool Party - eeeeek! Bikinis were flying everywhere LOL

The whole 2 weeks were refreshing for Miami. It's a lot better atmosphere than non conference.

I think the big song this year was the Deep Dish remix of "Party All the Time" - Cheese remake song but everybody seems to love it... also, "This is Miami" which is a bootleg... Heard this dropped like 15 times throughout the week and everytime the crowd went CRAZY.

House music rules the Miami dancefloors once again!! Perhaps next time a FM dance station opens up here... they will focus on that... instead of Trance and Freestyle.

IDMA's - replace that crap with DanceStar.

I think I lost about 10 years of hearing from these 2 weeks. Took out earplugs everynight.. and they really didnt help (cant imagine people partying every night w/o out earplugs).. they must be deaf right about now.

The best party for me was Sasha/Digweed @ Space Monday night. The place was CRAAAZY! Nothing like dancing on the terrace to the sunrise with the Miami skyline surrounding you, one of the best feelings in the world.

I thought that was horrible. But they give a record store time to go up there as well as a nightclub.

When's the 1Club.FM Message Boards going to come back up?

I've been heading to your site every night to see if it's back up & running, but I just keep seeing the same message.

I miss the Boards, Russ.

Please bring them back up & running POST HASTE. :-D

I gotta envy you there, Russ!! :D

It sounds like you had a SLAMMIN' GOOD TIME there this year!!! :D

You make me wish I could go down there and be a part of it with you all there!! :D

Too bad I've got $$$ concerns, though, at the present time. :(
