WMCJ 1460 in Cullman back on air

...Dont be too excited, though. They are now "Business Talk 1460," and no longer carry Salem's Solid Gospel format. With all of the other subgenres of Talk radio around the area, this format is about saturated. At the end of the day, the station would be better off catering to the Hispanic population with a Tejano or Regional Mexican format.

Any thoughts?

It's listed on my site as now being owned by Jimmy Dale Burgess, with a blurb about it coming back as a news/talk station, so I guess that came true. :)

Business talk is a mighty fine niche for a small town like Cullman, at least in my opinion.

Especially in an economic climate like this.

Living in Cullman, I can't see many people listening to this station. They are running the same local ads as on AM 1340, free of charge I'm sure. It's a shame what this station has become. Back in the day when it was a combo with 101.1 WFMH, they had a big audience around here, and really north Alabama.

I don't see them doing well with this format, either, being in a smaller city. Many of the business news outlets in major metropolitan areas don't fare well, for the most part. AM 1260 in Birmingham (WCEO) attempted a business news format in the early 90's and failed miserably.

Although I wouldn't be too excited if they did flip to Spanish, they could at teast have an audience to target that currently isn't targeted. Or, maybe flip to an Adult Standards format. However, I'm hoping for Christmas that I'll get to hear a Rock and Roll Oldies format :D even though I know it won't happen lol!
