Although I don't get much chance to listen to WMEN, when I do it's John and Jeff overnight. An enjoyable show with two young guys from L.A. doing guy talk overnight. I was a big fan of Joe Costello, Mark Eisenbaum, and Brooklyn Anthony so this show is a nice replacement. I try to listen driving home at 12:30 but Jim Rhome is sports smack and not my thing. I have checked out Mancow's angry act in the morning but am not a big fan of angry in the a.m.

John and Jeff are good for overnights. At least it's a change from Geroge Noory and Joey Reynolds. The Mantalk lineup is pretty good for what it's worth. I listen to Don & Mike and Leykis every day.

I agree with what you say about Mancow being angry, but it's something different.

It's good to have something that's not political talk.

It's a good station all around but they have to get rid of that filler talk of Tammy bruce and Rusty "Heck Yeah" Humphries

Remember, WMEN changed format at the end of October, 1/3 of the way in the book already. Since it's old audience was 70+, ALL of those listeners probably left. I'm guessing it wasn't until December at the earliest before anyone noticed.

Next full book (Winter) will be more of a determining factor. Have you seen their billboards? They're also running a Super Bowl contest and truck giveaway.

I don't see the billboards. I live in Atlanta, but I keep tabs on this part of Florida because I lived there til 2003.

Where are the billboards located?

Maybe it's just me but has anybody else noticed that WMEN's calls resemble the word "Women"? Rather interesting to those of us with nothing to do. ;D

Actually Surfer, that's true, the first impression is that it's "Lifetime" radio.

They have some good board locations in Broward County - I am betting they are paid for by TRN, the folks who syndicate Mancow, who suprise, suprise, stars in the billboard! In terms of content, there is a very foolish and critical ommision, but I ain't saying what it is. I loved Leykis when he was on 940 many years ago...but I think even he sounds llike he's grown tired of his act. James-Crystal will grow tired of this station's point nothing numbers within a year.

There's a MASSIVE WMEN 640 billboard (with Mancow prominently featured on it) in the strangest of locations - right along Useless-One in the heart of Naranja a few miles north of Homestead. I wonder just how many people in this area are actually listening to an AM station that is over 90 miles away !

THE MAJOR

P.S. For those of you who were wondering (THANKS for the E-MAILs) I am still here. I haven't gone anywhere. If anyone wishes to discuss South Florida radio in here then let's do it. I know that it's really quiet in here, but we can change all of that with just a few good topics to discuss.

What Happened This Morning To John And Jeff? I'm driving to work and i hear Tammy Bruce where they should be. Not that Tammy Bruce is bad, its just that she is a right wing lesbian (not that there's anything wrong with that) and normally she sits in for Laura Ingraham which is not Man Talk material. Let's hope John And Jeff return to the third shift because we need more live overnight talk to compete with George Noori, and Joey Reynolds.

It seems that after being a Palm Beach station for all those years, they're now trying to use their decent daytime signal to be a Miami station.
