WMER Meridian, MS

Orange County, TX - WMER owning 1390 with their gospel format. Must be on their day power, 5KW, instead of their night power, 101W.

I'll have to check that one out. 5kw, if it's non directional, should be plenty to intrude on what's left of the Chicago 1390 at my location.

WMER had a good signal here in west central Georgia last night. Seems to be another station that sometimes forgets to power down at night.

I checked out 1390 this morning at around 4:30am CDT. I heard gospel on WGRB, the Chicago 1390. I also heard another signal (among several) with what sounded like it could have been either southern gospel or country. So I guess my question is what type of gospel music does WMER play. Their website/stream is effectively down and says the site is "under construction". It's easy to pick out WGRB, because it serves the Chicago African-American community.

So, if the music I was hearing (with WGRB and other signals mixing) was southern gospel, I may have heard WMER, If they play another version of gospel, what I was probably hearing something else.

I'll try for it tonight

I can remember getting WMER in NW TN in the late 80's or early 90's when they had a CCM format, at least at night. But it was never a regular enough that I could count on it every night since Jackson, TN had WTJS (Now WLLI) on 1390 close by.

I think I finally snagged WMER here at my home location Friday (10/16) before sunrise. Hung out on 1390 and heard southern gospel rising to the top on a weak signal from time to time, until WGRB went to their day pattern. Unfortunately, I never got a positive ID, so I can't say it was WMER with 100% certainty.

Before sunrise the last two mornings I heard WGRB on top with another station fighting underneath. WGRB was too strong for me to have a chance to ID the station.
