WMEX off air?

I’ve noticed that right now (Nov 16 9am) WMEX seems to be off air. I saw on their Facebook page they’re upgrading their studios. Does that have something to do with it?

I noted them with a dead carrier at about 9:45, but just checking now (10:30), they are back with programming (weekend countdown). 😌

WMEX has been in the process of moving the studios out from WATD in Marshfield to new studios they just built in Plymouth. This has caused some brief glitches.

I don’t know the reason, but I think co-owner Tony LaGreca is located in the Plymouth area.

I wonder if they have any plans (or funds) to expand the signal reach into the Plymouth area? Neither the AM night signal or the FM translator make it to Plymouth from Quincy.

I’m wondering if WPLM 1390 AM is for sale and if it would be considered for a WMEX simulcast, and perhaps they could put on another FM translator for it in the area.

OK that explains Audrey Constant's FB comment on WMEX FB saying "I'll miss you guys in Marshfield"

In July of 2021 WMEX was purchased by Justice and LaGrecca for $390k, at 10 grand per month ($340k actually being the remainder to be paid) and it was said tower rent
was $3k per month. Not sure how much new studios will cost to outfit etc

1390 WPLM applied to downgrade from 5 kW day to 500 watts last month--on one tower. So 500w would be what WMEX would get with a 1390 simulcast post upgrade; it was noted in an earlier thread that means pretty much Plymouth County and part of Cape Cod
