WMEX?

Easy to say when nobody's answering the phones :p

:) :) They constantly complain about their producer being stupid or useless, etc etc etc, yet they don't fire his a$$....they argue with him on air, they insult each other, name call and for some reason they think this is "good radio". I may have to tune in and actually pay attention on July 3rd to see what kind of questions are asked and what kind of answers are given.

BTW....we're going national bayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy beeeeeee!

With all those oldies on at night, I can imagine some of those AM listeners in Western Europe enjoying the programming.
When I was over in Wales along the coast earlier this year, I picked up WMEX with a surprisingly strong signal when it was dark across the Atlantic.
Of course, having 50,000 watts on the high end of the band aimed right at Europe from a northeast, coastal city certainly helps!

Signal fades in and out after 7pm! Same thing with WRKO, first the audio sounds normal, then it gets really low THEN IT GETS REALLY REALLY LOUD! I'm listening to WMEX right now, Jimmy Jay's "Rewind" Show, signal fades out, then static, then signal comes back in.

Get yourself a Zenith Transoceanic and you can really listen to signals fading in and out :)

What a nice AM receiver the Transoceanic was. I had one during my college years up against the window of my dorm room in a brick-and-steel building and it picked up all sorts of stuff at night with only the internal antenna.

Back in the late '70s I bought 2 of these from a guy --- one was his daughter's (she'd taken it to Turkey during her college days.....), the other was his...
Aside from one needing to be cleaned of cigarette smoke residue....they both worked flawlessly -- right down to the dial lights!!!:)
BTW......$75 for BOTH!! I gave one to a friend......and I still have mine (although it hasn't seen use in several years......can you still get 1 volt tubes for these??!!)

I'm on the South Shore about 10 -15 miles from Marina Bay.

Rite now there's a soccer program on WMEX (reception is fine) and the host announced at the beginning of the program that this is
the last show for them on WMEX.

There's an early morning show on WMEX on Saturdays from 6a-7a - something like Talking with Francesca - the last 3 or 4 weeks
it's been a repeat of the same show - there's also a sports show on Saturday afternoon about football
and for the last couple of weeks it's been the same repeat over and over.

WMEX is still promoting Shortsleeve and Mac mornings and mcSCREAMER afternoons. Will be interesting to see what happens after next Friday!

Will the last one to leave please turn off the transmitter.

There are several web sites specializing in tubes - both new and used. A typical 1 volt tube, such as a 1U4 or 1U5 sells for around $5.00, but a few that are rare can be much more expensive.

The implication this morning is that the Renegade Radio show might move to a Boston-area FM station. It appears that it will continue, for now, on two west coast stations.
