WMEZ-FM easy listning radio 1980

Tonight while at the thrift store I stumbled accross 3 airchecks unscoped of WMEZ FM. This station was an easy listning station in 1980. (8-12-80). Anyone here know any info. Anyone need some airchecks of an easy listning station from 1980 ;D Sounds like 100.7 WQXY or 101.9 New Orleans ala 1980-83.

I listened to most of side 1 of one of the tapes. Its just music. really boring music! I will check tomorrow and see if I can catch some liners or commercials or something. Its definitly from the radio. It has static on the tape. Not bad just like the station is 70 miles away. You can only notice between songs. And the tapes are TDK SA90 and Maxell Chrome. They are cd quality for 1980.
 
WMEZ 94.1 is (and was in 1980) licensed to Pensacola, FL. In 1980 it was an easy listening station, today it's evolved to soft rock. Are your tapes of WMEZ in Pensacola or KMEZ in New Orleans?
 
They say WMEZ. But I cant find any ID on the tapes. Just long sets of easy listning music.

I got them in gonzales La may be Big Eazy 102.9. Was it on the air in 1980?
 
Whoever the dj was he had a very boring job. Its just seque after seque...The theme to M*A*S*H is on there. and so is the rock n roll of the carpenters ;D

That's a pretty good description of Pensacola's WMEZ in the early 80's.
 
I seriously doubt its KMEZ. Before 102.9 went old school it was a smooth jazz KNOK 102.9 The Breeze. Smashed is the music ez listening or jazz?
 
KMEZ didn't even come on the air until 1989 (the original CP was for 1987) but didn't take the current call until 1991.

I've asked and believe like everyone else said that it was WMEZ-FM Pensacola as the call has been there since 1980 for sure (or at least according to the FCC data base)
 
its pensacola. its wmez. and its elevator music. not smmoth jazz. anyone want these tapes? otherwise they will become part of my record on tape collection thursday ;D
 
well one of the tapes is now eddie stubbs on wsm. guess I will do the same to the other two. ;D

If the tape is WMEZ from Pensacola, you might want to go on the North Florida board and see if anyone there wants it...
 
It is. but I have talked to numerous people. Nobdy wants tham not even me. so I am recording over them.
