WMEZ Pensacola

blah..

let's get people in the spending mood...
(we've lost the true meaning)

Re: WMEZ Pensacola/ OH PLA-EEEZE

That station is a complete joke. WMEZ will never go to full power, I KNOW for a fact from a former employee. This guy said the PAMAL owner, who is a used car dealership owner has nO clue about radio, he's in debt over 2 million dollars, he cannot afford to put it back up to full power. That guy John Sykes was hired and had zero experience as a PD, let alone the format. My VERY reliable source: VERY funny story, her told me his first few days they had to teach him how to use 'word perfect'. He came in for the Production Director position and they gave him the PD gig! Too many great large and major market jocks that got paid very well left ther in less than a year, I mean SMOKED was left when they saw how pathedic it is.
THEY HAD:
Kevin Peterson, does his syndicated show across the US
Annie Sommers former Orlando /Tampa I think Miami jock and PD, left after barley 6 months. She is now running a few CC stations back in Tampa
Lu Valentino Phoenix, Tampa, Miami, left and laughed across the street to 100.7 The Q, they waited for her non-compete.

Mike Sanders, not a major market jock or large, but he had the best number next to Lou, he left after well, you got it...Sykes.

So please whomever thinks that soft rock has a chance, I KNOW from a former employees, THEY are dooomed.

I used to work with Sykes in Pensacola when he was at Cumulus. He was only a talentless night jock then. Jerkass used to fly off the handle about everything. No talent and was just a whiny baby.

I don't blame all those people for leaving.

what a shame. 94.1 is almost gone now (or are they gone)

yet, im sure they are acting like everything is fine.

As of late last week, WXBM (102.7) and WMEZ (94.1) are now back up to full power. Signal is very strong and both stations sound pretty good. Look for new imaging and possibly a new station voice on XBM in the near future. They are phasing out the "Today's Best & Most Country" moniker in favor of the new "Your Country" slogan. Now that they have a strong signal again, Cat Country 98.7 better look out. XBM killed them with a weak signal last book - just wait until the next book now that they are back at full power!

and what pisses me off is that cat country blocks my view of 98.5. which comes in on a regular basis.
how well is 102.7 and 98.7's signal in FWB? looking at the map there on the fringe area. 105.5's weak signal hardly leaves the metro area. they barely come in here. I hear another station on 105.5 playing oldies.

rob....rob....robbbbbbb LOOK AT THE f****ing map! You are 30 miles from 98.7 in Pensacola.....you are over 70 miles (probably 80) from 98.5.......1st adjacent channel protection contour is NO WHERE near you for 98.5.......we don't cover Navarre listen ...it is licensed to PANAMA CITY.....not FWB or Destin or even Panama City Beach....it covers PC Beach and most of Destin/FWB (we show up there pretty good in the FWB book) but Navarre is REALLLLY stretching it....just be happy with your LOCAL stations (FWB and Pensacola) 105.5 is a Class A station (I believe without looking it up on the FCC database) they aren't even supposed to get to Navarre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am changing my name to robwtf...

here goes my first posted note...

i don't get near enough of that special 'map' you speak of there cceng-lady, i wish they'd cover my 'area' more often with those
'maps' virtually non-stop even better. those 'maps' were everwhere on the beach in 'the day.' now
its a virtual drought here, but i am not near the beach now. robfwb is getting nothing of anything on the beach so , its
more of a tower or signal problem, i guess. but that's a problem i am not caring much about it's for him to fix, though. like castro or new orleans, with their sleezy french kissing stations.

now as for radio, though, why don't you just move that 98.5 you own into say the courtyard thingy at seaside and
they could put a pretty flag on it and decorAte with pretty colored even maybe white lights for the yule season
of holidays with no yule music on the air but garland. i hope. then maybe i and rob could see the view of 98.5.
okay, right now, i'm going to go looking for that hot 98.5 and wait for the 'view' on a regular basis. i almost have broken you
twos codes*****

but dude or dudette or what ever you are today, you are to stressed with all those morse code ............. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!'s.!
you need to get your own 'map' and take out some tower frustrations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SADLY THIS ALL MAKES SENSE ... and yes, 105.5 is a ROYAL "A" for not going to Navarre.

blah.

At least the panhandle of Florida has variety in its radio.  With so many choices to pick from , why all the complaints?

If you were to visit my wasteland called West Central Alabama and listened to the few stations we have, then you'd be counting your blessings and understand why I want to pursue a radio station of my own.

All I get is mostly noise and boredom.  Although I detest it, I'm not going to let that cause me discomfort.

I'm thankful for my CD collection.  It keeps me entertained and encouraged, since my radio dial is filled with meaningless nothing and chatter.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. Learn to appreciate the things you have and be thankful for them.

Charlie, they kicked 'YZB up from an A to a C3 about 10 years ago. Was it those guys from Mississippi? Anyway, it runs 25-kw at about 300 feet, so it covers about a 20-mile circumference of beach, just like an A but with a little more punch. As we all know but sometimes ignore, antenna height is as-or-more important than ERP in determining coverage. (Sorry, Rob, I know how confusing this all must be)!

As for 94.1/WMEZ... hey, it's a great stick. If the SOB is back up to full power, it will be fine. Every Class C stick in that (Pensacola-Mobile) market will always be capable of being a player. There's too much money floating around for any of them to just waste away.

It might be time to lose the "Soft Rock" flip. Just looking at their music hours, it appears as though they're pretty close to being on-track for a mainstream AC, so I wonder if the flip might be working against them. (Has Delilah run its course)? Won't comment on the jocks coming & going except to say that somehow Marty & Linda & Lynn & CJ have all managed to stick around the building on Quintette Road for years...

Both WXBM and WMEZ broadcast on the internet now, so you can listen no matter where you are.

WXBM rolled out their new station voice today... definitely modernizes the sound of the station. Their signal is really strong now, too... their new tower is about 300 feet higher than before and they are still 100,000 watts.

Improvements on the WMEZ side too... they too are doing cash giveaways. According to radio-locator WMEZ is now at 77,000 watts - they are a C0 where XBM is a straight C.

Both signals are crystal clear now all over the metro.

I think these two stations are headed for great things in the next couple of books. Solid formats on both and established airstaffs. Plus, XBM is one of those rarities - they don't use any satellite programming or any voicetracking - they have someone on site 24/7.

Certainly hope Marty and Linda aren't planning to leave anytime soon... they are definitely the heart and soul of WXBM.

radiops,

How long have you been with MEZ & XBM? ;D

Seriously, thanks for the updates. Can you make it easier to listen online through the website for WMEZ? I'd like to
hear good ole CJ on the air again. Haven't heard him much since the days of 98.1 WXCR, today known as
The Ticket (W-HALE)
