MAGIC 97.9 WMGA has finally launched and you better believe, watch out Huntington/Ashland/Ironton. The station sounds really good... Here is a clip from www.radioandrecords.com

"Connoisseur/Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY Launches New Station

Connoisseur AC WMGA (Magic 97.9) signed on the air yesterday at noon in the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY market, featuring artists like Sheryl Crow, Rod Stewart, Elton John and Celine Dion.

Bonnie "BJ" Nielsen transitioned from GM duties for Renda Broadcasting/Daytona Beach to take over the reins as GM for WMGA in October 2005.

"There was an enormous hole in this market for adult music," Nielsen tells R&R. "The response from the community has been overwhelming. People have been coming up to me on the streets and telling me how much they love it."

The station is running jockless and commercial-free as Nielsen is currently in the process of hiring personnel for administrative, sales and programming positions."

And of course, do you think this is all for Connoisseur....NOPE! They also recently launched two new FM's in Billings Montana and Two FM's in Bloomington Illinois are already ratings giants in the market. Connoisseur also recently purchased Nextmedia Erie (and rumor has is Nextmedia Decatur is on the block).

Could this mean that Connoisseur will be playing with more stations in Huntington. Rumors once again strike saying that Huntington's River is up for grabs along with 5TH AVENUE..... Who knows, this could be anyones game right now.
