They've appeared to put new immageing as "Your home for Light rock and Less talk" there is a feamale (VT or local?) dj. no Delilah. Appears to have a wider AC playlist (though I didn't listen long),
I wasn't here before Christmas (left in mid May 2011, and at that point it was just plain "Magic 107.7"
Morning show, John Tesh, Ken Pain, Delilah.
Did these changes occur today or was it at some point while I wasnt here?

Didn't realize Jana from XL also did nights at Magic .... pretty typical for mid-size market clusters where jocks cover 2 stations each day ... but usually they change their persona (and name, web site pic, etc.) for the other station. [unless of course you work for Cox, where you're on-air at every station in the cluster]

Nothing has changed much except for the loss of Delilah and Tesh. The music may have changed a bit, as they are now airing the Clear Channel Premium Choice AC feed (while still having mostly local jock content, albeit not live) Ever take a listen to 99.3 in Melbourne? Outside of when they air Delilah, the music log is identical, give or take a song or two at the end of the hour based on automation timing.

In the Orlando December PPM numbers Christmas music reigns supreme. Between Magic's 8.8 and Z88.3's 8.2 there are 17.0 shares of Christmas music listening. More than any other format genre.

Christmas Music 17.0 (Magic 107.7, Positive Hits-Z88.3)
Hot AC/Urban AC/Rock AC 16.5 (Mix 105.1, Star 94.5, 98.9 WMMO)
CHR/Rhythmic CHR 16.2 (XL106.7, Power 95.3, 102 Jamz, Wild 94.1, Hot 101.5, 93.3 WFLZ)
News/Talk/Sports 13.9 (96.5 WDBO, Real Radio 104.1, 90.7 WMFE, 540 WFLF, 660 WORL, 740-The Game, ESPN 1080-The Team)
Tropical/Spanish Hits/Spanish Adult Hits/Spanish Variety 11.8 (Rumba 100.3, KQ103, Jose' 98.1, 99.7 WBVL-LP)
Country 7.4 (K92FM, 97 Country, K-Country 93.7, 93.1-WKRO, US103.5)
Classic Hits/Adult Hits 5.2 (105.9 Sunny-FM, Max 98.3)
Rock 3.8 (101.1 WJRR, 98 Rock)
Smooth Jazz/Jazz 2.7 (102.5 WLOQ, 89.9 WUCF)
Black Gospel Music 0.9 (1140 WRMQ, 1680-WOKB)

Dean,

Congrats on your continued success... You have to be driving the corporate programmers crazy. After all, how would a station counter-program to compete for your listeners, who are there for some very specific reasons?

I'd also be interested to hear your thoughts on why you have been so uniquely successful in your market.

Um...how about no commercials, for one. It would be interesting to see what numbers they would pull if they had 12 mins of spots, including screaming car dealers every hour.

WAWZ has camersials. wonder how they do next to the KLove station up there?
but its a different markit too. Dont think you can get both stations in any part of that markit.tatin

Oh, hopefully no one forgot that Brenda Matthews left Magic 107.7 to go to Charlottes K104.7 on virtually her own grounds. To repeat, Clear Channel did not fire her. She left on her own accord.

Hi everybody! Brenda Matthews here. Here's the story. I relocated to Charlotte, NC, in the Fall of 2010 for my husband Ken's career. Ken Payne at Magic contacted me in December of 2010 to see if I had interest in voicetracking my former Midday shift, which I did. I also picked up my former station, Lite Rock 99.3 in Melbourne, where I 'tracked Middays for years, except this time around I was doing Afternoon drive.

I accepted a full-time Midday shift at CBS's K104.7 in Charlotte in November of 2011. Clear Channel Charlotte would no longer allow me in the building to voicetrack my two Florida stations, which I hoped to continue doing. Wasn't meant to be.

In Ocala alone, I believe K-Country gets a 70 rating. ::)

WOGK doesn't pull a 70 share; however, oftentimes it does pull low double digets, ranging anywhere between a 10.0 and 14.0.

@Brenda: Thanks for sharing!

@Tillery: Hence the ::) following my reply... My point is, K owns that market; of course, I don't think any station (even US in Chattanooga) has recorded a 70...

Today there are no stations that I am aware that pull a 70 share; however, back in the 70s the little 5kw AM station I programmed pulled better than a 70 share. Of course it helped that there were not as many stations on the air back then, either. Our competition was two beautiful music FMs and one other music AM. Today things are very different, and you are correct that WOGK essentially owns the Ocala / Gainesville radio market.
