The best part about going to the shore was to see the black & white WCMC station ID's with the reverb audio track being played from a an out of phase cart. Oh, and the local spots (black and white slides, always off center with a two degree shift counter clockwise) with the audio being played from a cart loaded with wow flutter on a worn out ampex manual cart machine left over from WCMC AM from the 60's. That was too much. I lived for that. As I recall WCMC didn't even sign on until 7am. I couldn't dream of watching KYW when I was down the shore. WCMC TV was the thing! I went over for a tour once and remember seeing the sloe black & white on-air camera. It looked like a left over security camera with really bright light focused on a easel.
Teleprompter 2 in Atlantic City was the same way during the day with the advertiser wheel. Then the advertiser wheel would get stuck, and the power would fluctuate and the picture would shrink. At night they switched to local talk show programming from a studio under convention hall with a real control room switcher. Remember the Cooks Books show on Teleprompter 2?
