WMHT now has WBKK Classical 97.7!

Could WMHT eventually go 24/7 NPR news and information, leaving 97.7 as a 24/7 classical-music outlet??

Nope. WMHT plans to give WBKK separate classical programming--while keeping itself classical--in September.

This move to buy WBKK was solely for the purpose of taking out the competition in the area when they were vulnerable. Many folks I've heard from are quite pissed that they now are stuck with the incessant pledge drives that WMHT is known for. It seems the commercials were less offensive.

The smart move would be to leave WMHT-FM as is, while taking WBKK more in a jazz direction, as the genre of music has almost zero representation on the dial. But again, I doubt WMHT will do anything of the sort.
