Catching up on the Daily Digests this morning for my website and I come across a change for a translator in Tuscaloosa on 100.9 MHz, which I'm not sure is actually on-air. The parent station was WUAL, but in a permit is now showing as WMHZ-AM.

WMHZ is the calls for the yet unbuilt AM 1340 allocation licensed to Holt, right outside of Tuscaloosa. It looks like the TTI people (whoever that is) have bought a translator for a station that's not even on air yet. I think that may be a first in all my years, but it highlights the importance of getting translators for AM stations these days.

Does anyone have any info on this station? I think the TX, due east of Holt, may have been in or near the path of the tornado that hit the area a while back.

I am helping a friend, and that is how we are going to to it. Buy a good translator, then the find a "dark" class D or C and move it to feed the translator.
 
OK I'm confused. Is the translator on the air, but not the am its supposed to be relaying, or is the am on the air now too? The translator looks like it has decent coverage for Tuscaloosa city limits. Good luck with the new station!
 
What are the future plans for this station?

Rooting for T-Town to have a rock oriented station again.

Jack FM (WNPT) was filling in that void very well.

Since they've left, no one has come and brought it back.

Hope your new radio station will take care of that need.

Are you saying you want this to be rock or that you've heard from somebody that it will be branded Z-101 FM? I got a little lost in the post, so I'm curious. thanks bud
 
I was thinking since T-Town has no rock station, as of now, this would be the perfect choice for your new radio station.
