WMIB Urban AC shift ?

I have not followed the 103.5 format. It looks like there is a shift to urban AC or altered playlist, or is it just the Steve Harvey morning rotation. I dunno. Could be wrong.

The music has definitely shifted. They have removed most of the hip-hop. However, the station is not a traditional Urban AC by any means - as it is still current-based - but leans heavily to the R&B side.

actually i have been listening, 1035 The Beat is now more classic based than contemporary.. " the beats that started it all" is a slogan of thiers now or something similar, but there still many currents
They tried going after 99 jams with their former format seems that didnt work. Now their going after hot 105!

can clear channel keep a format for more than 3-4 years on the 1035 frequency ? everything has flopped since the end of WSHE since 93-94 i think.

BTW the announcer dude from Clear Channel's WMIB used to be the announcer for Cox's WPYM. id never forget that voice. wonder were he is voice tracked from ?

That's Eric Edwards. He also does the VO work for WQHT in NYC, and KPWR in LA. Guess you could say he 'fell into' the Party 93-1 work because he had been voicing Cox's then Dance/Hip-Hop hybrid WPYO "95-3 Party" in Orlando. When they launched the Miami variant sans Hip Hop, they kept him.

The Beat's HD-2, "Can You Dig It Radio", is pretty neat....Mostly 60s-80s Classic R&B, and another CC "Format Lab" prepackaged deal...Wish they would try a localized solution (since it's my belief there are plenty of 'holes' just for Miami, say I dunno an "All Bass" channel, that XM or Sirius wouldn't touch that would leverage HD's local angle), but "Dig" is pretty good no less.

As for 103.5 not being able to keep a format, that's pretty much the norm these days--for any station. The days of the 'legacy format' are all but gone...Companies only keep a station with something for as long as it is profitable for them...Then it's time to flip to something else. Welcome to post-Telecom Act Radio. SHE went under at the same time the Act was passed (1996), not a coincidence as they were the third property in Paxson's fold, when they were legally allowed to have more than two.
