WMID THIS STATION NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME

We all know I am a Hard Rocker, but sometimes I am in the mood for good, classic, rare oldies. Not the OGL Soul, Motown, R&B constant familiar diet. When I am at the shore I usually tune WMID in and am always surprised and delighted of the music selection and fantastic variety. A sample of a one hour today was Oh Mein Papa either it was Dick Lee or Eddie Fisher, Whenever a Teenager Cries - Reparata and the Delrons and Blame it on the Bossa Nova - Edie Gormay. This was of course blended in with many other gems in the hour, Telstar, Surfer Girl, LoL from Pasadina, Every Beat of My Heart, Patches, Hello Walls, Ginger Bread - Frankie, that one knocked me out. I realize most of you on this board are too young to remember these classics, OGL would make you think they were never recorded, so you really would have no idea. My point is, I think a station either AM or FM, playing this type of music could easily pull over a 3.0 in the market. There is nothing to loose, it can be automated and cheap to run, its better than whats out there now. I would not consider what WPEN played being the same type of music that WMID plays, no way, (that is why they died), WPEN was the same, tiresome, Philly Soul blend, we have heard, over and over and over, plus the Geator with the Repeater.

SOME PEOPLE NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE ME

I wondered why I had never heard of this station. I checked.
THIS STATION IS NOT IN THE PHILADELPHIA MARKET!
IT CAN NOT BE HEARD ANYWHERE NEAR PHILLY!
Why? Low power. And - oh, yes - Philadelphia has a station on the same frequency.

"Bottom line even if it hits a 3.0. Can you sell it?"

All Depends ;D

WMID IS playing this type of music, it is 100% automated, it is cheap to run with no DJs, no news, and no promotions, and it's not even pulling a 3.0!

Do you really think playing Steve & Edie's greatest hits is going to be an easy sell?

It appears that WMID is based heavily on WMTR's formula even though they do not share the same ownership or any jocks. Even the jingles are the same package used in Morristown. WMID should explore geing some live jocks in drive time and voice tracking other dayparts. The station has a rich history as an Atlantic City Top 40 legend. I would have used the old Musicradio WMID jingles and hired back as many of it's veteran jocks as I good like Volvo, Chase and Lane . Granted, the station worls "as is" but I think would perform better if it could recreate of the sound of its better day.
Right now, it's just a PC plugged into the rack for all intents and purposes.
At least sister station WCMC has a live morning host, but they need to dump the snake oil shows that interrupt the natural continuity of the station. Sadly, that's the crap that pays the bills.
