Passing the tower today,I can still remember the top before the new mast was put in. The 99.3 antenna was mounted on the Northwest leg if I remember correctly a SMALL 4 bay near the top. What I did not remember is the two square blocks near the top just under the satellite dish, facing south. Are these bays by any chance and if so, for what station.
 
The small 4 bay you remember was a 161 mHz Marti horizontal
receive antenna. The two round white beer keg looking bays
is the original 1973 WGRF antenna, now used for backup.

Great info, I always thought the small 4 bay was the WGRF antenna, it did look like an FM antenna, although the four prongs looked very small.
 
one more question

Someone told me today that WOND is 1kw 24/7 and has always been that way. I remember when WMID and WOND were battleing for the top-40 audiance, 1964-1966 (and what a great battle that was), at night in Wildwood, WMID had the same good signal and WOND became weak. Was this just due to the night-time effect or did WOND actually drop to 250kw.

WMID is actually 890 watts day and night. Back in the day,
it was 1000 watts day, 250 night watts at, just like WOND.
WCMC was 100 watts until about 1966, when the went 1000/250
also. WMID's better signal can probably be attributed
to the location, and the big tower.
